Needs to track a bit more over the west to hit me here, but the Sutton Walden clump looks a good line to maybe reach SE18

the ‘storm’ really is something - can we count depths in number of flakes rather than cm or inches people? See my car bonnet ... too lazy to count

hopefully it will be a precursor to the rest of winter

Happy Xmas!

Hey, hope you are having a good Christmas so far! These are ARPEGE’s and ICON’s take on the winds at the moment:

Morning all,

Hope I find yourselves and your Families, well.

Well it's a bit chilly here, in S.E. London this Morning, after the very mild recent overnight temperatures.

A very Merry Christmas to all South East Regional Members and indeed, Forum Members from other Regions.

Sammy would now like to present his 9th Blog (Epilogue), in -  COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS WITH SAMMY SNOWMAN.

Sammy won't go into too much detail, about the Synoptic situation at t0. That has pretty much come to fruition, after being foretold quite a few Days ago. High Pressure building in from the W.S.W. but not before a few hours of some Wintry type Showers, running down the extreme East of our Region, especially Norfolk.

See Radar grab at t-8, below:

Will it snow today? Snow and rainradar , realtime snowradar - source: meteox.com

Some Showers running towards those areas, mentioned above.

Sammy would like to concentrate on 2 very important bits of News, that broke Yesterday, from Lapland.

It's all been "hush hush" but one of the reasons for Sammy's trip to Lapland, was to meet with a delegation from the E.C.S (European Commission of Snowmen).

Sammy was accompanied by the N.B.A (Northern Blocking Alliance).

This is a triumvirate consisting of High Latitude Birger - image.thumb.png.6926ae55ef0118bbe07813d9ad3eb347.png (Greenlandic delegate).

High Latitude Bjork (Icelandic delegate), and just a small wedge.

Finally, High Latitude Bengt (Scandinavian delegate) - image.png.cfbace7c0404b83c135bc34c7328bc84.png

After 5 Months of intense negotiations, they agreed to form -

N.E.A.E.T.O. (North East Atlantic and European Trade Organisation).

They thrashed out a plan to build a 40,000 foot wall, high into the Stratosphere.

They got the idea, from the "Orange" one -  image.thumb.png.122fba478864a63cf33aa0d2d994c383.png

The barrier will stretch from the tip of N.W. Spain, away to the N.W. and along the West Coast of Greenland.

 image.thumb.png.ca7ef455b6b5ab566a2781846d61997b.png

The aim is to deflect Jett Stream, the nasty sidekick bully, of P.V. (Pernicious Victor)

The Northern Blocking Alliance have agreed to form an impenetrable barrier along the -

G.I.N. (Greenland/Iceland/Norway) Corridor.

N.E.A.T.O. are hoping to entice Jett Stream to swop his allegiance to them and away, from Pernicious Victor.

The hope is that he will loop up and around the North of Scandinavia, then drop South over Western Russia.

The intense 5 Month negotiations have also resulted in a Freezer ready, BRR-ENTRANCE Deal.

This will hopefully facilitate the unrestricted move Westward of B.F.T.E -

image.thumb.png.1bbbda39bbe12b9f03ea5c02216e6d29.png - our frozen Siberian friend, Boris From The East.

Hopefully, Boris won't dither or delay and deliver a cold and wintry, second half of Winter.

But by the same token the N.E.A E.T.O., are concerned that High Latitude Birger (the Greenlandic delegate), will be enticed to orientate towards, North America.

This could then allow the sneaky and cowardly Jett Stream, in through the "back door" and cover the U.K., in very mild sourced air, from way South in the North Atlantic.

But N.E.A.E.T.O. have had assurances from Birger, that he will stay on message, and orientate towards the South/S.E.

Should N.E.A.E.T.O's plan come to fruition, this is likely to see Jett Stream buckle and amplify, beyond belief and run screaming across the Atlantic, South of the U,K. or take the more Northerly route and loop back around through Western Russia and westwards, through Europe.

Sammy Snowman and his U.K. colleagues, have also agreed to join with Snowmen throughout the Northern Hemisphere, and initiate a S.S.W. (Sudden Snowman Warming).

This is planned to begin in early January. See N.E.A.T.O's planned projection of the result, below:

 image.png.32a0b294e117fa5b43b62e36f16d2571.png

This should result in blasting Pernicious Victor to smithereens and causing him to split, and or displace.

This would involve a very selfless act by Sammy and hundreds/thousands of Snowmen, around the Northern Hemisphere.

They would initially suffer a rapid melting, then be catapulted high into the Stratosphere, where they would then refreeze and drop back down to Earth and deposit copious amounts of Snow, for some fortunate locations.

In a short while, Sammy Snowman will bring you news of a second important event, that was agreed upon Yesterday.

Regards,

Tom. :snowman-emoji: ❄️

Sammy Snowman's second important piece of news, came late Yesterday Morning.

As was stated a while ago, he'd arranged a romantic Sleigh ride for himself and girlfriend Samantha -

image.png.0d8eceefa681809dd08174f68146c238.png

During the Sleigh ride, Sammy popped the question and produced an ice cold diamond ring -

image.png.90fe0294015c5b74019e432a9b0c6606.png - which he slipped on Samantha's frozen finger.

You'll be pleased to hear, that Samantha accepted Sammy's proposal, without hesitation.

Sammy promptly phoned his Parents, Solomon and Sharon - image.png.2e0e8ee9182ff1429babe388740e2d4a.png

back in the U.K., to give them the happy news.

They are making plans to marry back in Levi, Lapland, in a Year's time.

They would like to leave you with a couple of musical offerings.

The first clip, is every Snowman's favourite from Phil Collins and Genesis, "Snowbound."

Sammy has included the lyrics, so you can singalong to this delightful tribute to our frozen friends:

The second offering, is from honorary South East Regional Member, the lovely -

image.thumb.png.9e1607a0b9a2efe609741c2a51dea53c.png - Kate Bush.

Kate was born around 5 Miles East of here, in Welling.

Kate wrote the Album "50 Words For Snow" , as an antidote to the surprising February 1991 hit -

"The Wrong Type Of Snow". This awful dirge was performed by "Southern Region."

"Southern Region" had written this lament in response to their brand new fleet of rolling stock, having their engines blown, by fine, powdery Snow that fell in a blizzard, in early February, 1991.

Around 12/13 Years earlier, their earlier incarnation "British Rail" had another surprising hit with -

"The Wrong Type Of Snow Plough". Another lament written in response to their embarrassing oversight of purchasing a Snow Plough from Norwegian Railways, that was the wrong gauge to operate on the Rail Network, in this Country.

Sammy and Samantha, would like to wish all South East Regional Members -

image.png.4514b233c1e68e73d009ea3220e85a77.png

A Merry Christmas and a Very Snowy New Year.

The loved up frozen couple, hope you've all enjoyed this light hearted look at White Christmas prospects, for the     South East/East Anglia Region.

And I hope you're all enjoying a lovely Christmas Day, despite the restrictions.

A Very Merry Christmas, from Yours Truly.

Regards,

Tom.  :snowman-emoji: ❄️ :santa-emoji:

Thanks @snowrye

Lovely day here after the threat of a snow flurry skies have cleared - Looking for a double sub zero night.

Max temp 3.3c already down to 2.6c

Merry xmas Steve.

Regardless of no snow here, its nice to finally have a proper seasonal feeling day with cold in the air and a morning frost.

Oh and sunny as well. Makes a huge difference as this had the potential to be a very bleak xmas with the restrictions. The light really does make a difference.

Hi everyone, and Merry Christmas!

I was looking at the forecast for the next few days and spotted this symbol for Monday. I previously thought it was fog but it also shows heavy precipitation? (50% chance of snow too in fact!) Any help would be appreciated!

On the subject of Monday's weather there seems like potential for some decent snow? I'll only believe the forecasts about 24 hours out when it comes to snow!

I'm down the road from Biggin Hill on the high parts of Croydon so my area will probably do well.
