I have done, but the airspace around London is fairly difficult to avoid these things. If I had an instrument rating, then yes you get on top of the scud and would get some great views of them.

I did this flight on last years' storms, was interesting.

As you can see, you've got to be very very careful.  You could run into a cell.  I hope in the EU we soon get ADSB Datalink for weather downloads.

However there's this video of me flying through some interesting weather, later to become TSRA.

Epic landing on the second video along with the views and Cells, I can see in the first video how it can be hard to spot CB hiding among other clouds (low level).

The Jet fighter topped things of as you were prepping for take off  😎.

Had to research what ADSB Datalink is...it's expensive but worth it for both weather and traffic.

Thanks for the share, now go join The 53d WRS

Tomorrow looks like the best day this week for southern, central and eastern areas, which makes a change given that northern and western areas have had much of the action this week. I don’t believe a level 2 Estofex warning has been issued once this week and given that those are pretty rare in the UK it is certainly going to be an interesting day.

What's died down in Hastings ?  I'm 2 miles inland and apart from some ocassional lightning flashes this has been a non event as far as I can see.

Was sat on the beach for 90 mins watching some semi impressive lightning about 10-15 miles off the coast. Posted gifs earlier

When Estofex issues a level 2, you know it's going to go down.

I’m off to sleep now, let’s see if I get woken up later...

I’m again employing my tactic of expecting nothing so that anything that does happen is a pleasant surprise

That’s the one, they’ve already spotted a flash, I told them to watch out the window for a bit while I try and get my sleeping tablets out my system with a cup of coffee 😂

So i have a chance? ^-^

If you're talking about those storms departing N France, then yes, you do have a chance. I wouldn't raise my hopes yet though because it could easily fizzle out before you know it.

What time do you reckon they could arrive, wondering if there is any point in sleeping

Head down to the beach if you can, flashes are getting brighter and slightly more frequent! Looks like the MCS has spawned numerous cells on it’s outflow(?) boundary

To get to the beach I'd need to turn my illegal exhaust motorbike on at 1am without causijf a disturbance....  😕

That NE French storm is getting some momentum to it. Places like Dover and Deal could get a direct hit I think, should it hold out!

what about ramsgate?
