A beautiful altocumulus castellanus sunrise this morning.

    Oo she's a beauty

My first attempt at storm shots 🤷‍♂️ (Please don't judge 🤣) The cells are impressive tonight!

This summer has hands down beaten anything in the last 10-15 years for storms. An incredible period in June and now this.

    Amazing.

Do you still have heavy rain/hail there? The rain started here, heavy at first but now just turned to normal rain. Thunder sounds a lot closer with more regular CG's

That Crewe camera is incredible... flashing almost constant

Although does make me slightly depressed as I watch it from my sweatbox of a bedroom down in Essex

Seems to be becoming more frequent over time!! More subtle flashes in the cloud amongst the larger ones

Agree. Same down here in Shrewsbury.

And we should get too greedy but tomorrow looks a decent bet too!!

the storm you are having now (And I can still clearly see flashes two hours after it started) and we had earlier was one of the best I have been in in the Uk and I’m 40 this year. A rare event to get something like that over us after a long storm starved period until more recently.

Mate, after the barren years we had to endure, I have no qualms with being greedy

Will film what I can from the prom

Watching the lightning from the back garden in Hailsham. Will be bu**ered if I'm going out again today after the fun and games at the Co-Op. Got so angry my left eye actually drifted out of alignment before snapping back in place...that's a new one.
Anyway back on topic...hoping we catch something decent tomorrow, even rain alone will be welcomed at this stage.

Yeah, noticed more CGs thrown in. Fairly steady and heavy rain here at the moment.

Watching the storm to the west-southwest from a good vantage point in the Peak District. Observed some lovely IC lightning at times 👏

Can imagine for those closer it is/has been quite a show!

Much brighter distinct flashes to my E now. Light convective rain. Distant flickers to the W, over the sea.

Just 5 years ago I'd have jumped on my mountain bike and pedalled it down there, not so fit now unfortunately.

    @Paul Sherman

You saw this coming for tonight didn't you. And there was me with no faith at all!

Shocking forecast by the Metoffice really. They were closer with their earlier forecasts.

Consistent flashes here (I've decided they are flashes now), but they are quite faint and my window faces east so I can't see anything.

Looks like Nottingham may escape the thunder for tonight but wow is it boiling hot!

The sleeper train to Inverness will be through soon. Bet that driver's having a tricky shift!

Must admit that is one train journey I would love to do.

    Perhaps not tonight though.

Gotta say, even for being storm adjacent (clipped with it being further to the west just of Stoke) This is by far the most memorable storm for just absolute constant lightening and an utter constant distant roar and rumbling of thunder, save for those closer CGs! It's been a cpl of hours from when first saw it in distance when it was in Shrewsbury, and it's still mental now! Best storm I've known! And I'm not technically directly under it, just clipped on the side!

This is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen, got a constant strobe of lightning to the West with the occasional massive flash and deep boom of thunder. Then behind me is an insane looking orange tinted moon.

The RAF crew in Ascot 467 should be getting a cracking view on the way home to Brize Norton
