All I can say is that I'm very pleased with these pics I managed to get last night from Hampton Pier. Managed to get on the national news too with a Weather Watchers submission. Better reso

Well we finally got some clear weather at last. I ended up going back down to the quay, and also took my 9 year old daughter with me, as she really wanted to come out with me when I last ventured

Best I could do on my phone tonight. The comet is in an awkward spot from my vantage point so I could only manage a handheld shot on my phone. I need to find my gorillapod so I can attach i

I plan to see it at some point in the next week but some of the pictures I'm seeing are amazing.

Wow. I'll scan the skyline tonight if cloud holds up to see if I see anything.

Well I set the alarm and checked outside to see if the sky was clear, and it was!

Took a while for my sleepy eyes to adjust but i did find the comet after short while, as I was expecting it to be a bit higher!

This is the first comet I have seen since Hale-Bopp, that particular comet was absolutely amazing.

Does anyone have any idea if we can expect a similar showing this time around?

Anyway, I will definitely be getting up again once it moves into darker skies and becomes a little higher, it's well worth getting up for!

Shot at 105mm and cropped in for a closer look?

Great photos.

Sadly this comet will be nothing like Hale-Bopp. To show how amazing Hale Bopp was, it was already a naked eye object about 9 months before it even reached its perihelion.

Despite this, it's a great that a comet is visible.

Thanks!

Yeah, Hale-Bopp was pretty special wasn't it.

I had no idea it was visible for that long though, I was around 15 at the time, and I guess we didn't have quite as much information at our fingertips back then.

Could you imagine what today's news media would make of another event similar to Hale-Bopp?  Especially as they can't go one month without getting completely overexcited about a regular full moon ?

One last picture, I've really gone to town with the colour to make it stand out a bit more.

Tonight could be very good viewing for many parts.

Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Venus as well possible noctilucent clouds besides the comet are also on view in the early hours.

Not in work tomorrow, so an all nighter for me.  Fingers crossed the clouds won't be doing an all nighter too.

Just to reiterate what Weather History said above about viewing the Comet this Evening/ morning. Here`s 2 locators...the first for this evening from 10 pm...and the second for 4 am....Should be visible for the morning with the naked eye.  I am not sure about the visibility for the evening viewing....but at least we know where it will be

Capella is a good place to start....Happy hunting

10 pm Comet....altitude 10°... magnitude 3.0
