Ugh I feel so defeated . Nature will do whatever the hell it wants I suppose. Still over two months of summer left though  hopefully an actual proper plume event will happen and we can get the kind of storms we should be getting here in the south

I know what you mean.  I had two good thunderstorms last year, one in Serbia, the other in Albania.  I don't even have the option to go abroad for a proper thunderstorm this year!

Did a tornado hit Warcop, Cumbria?

The station reported a 64 mph gust as a storm went overhead.

The same storm went over the Great Dun Fell 2 station and it reported a 71 mph gust.

Shame about the lack of anything in the SE, because I’ve just been out for a walk and it still feels and looks pretty ripe

I'll take the potential for 2 storms in 2 days.

Will it happen? Probably not.

That ripeness is about to vanish going by the fact it did just that here about an hour ago. A lovely fresh breeze now in place along with low, messy cumulus scooting along the sky. Definitely in the Atlantic airflow now.

@Jamiee I think that might be part of the cold front so I don't think there will be an awful lot of lightning in that.

Those aren't storms I'm afraid, it's the first band of showers coming into the south west tonight and sweeping across the whole south. Could be a rumble or two, but not talking imports or anything like that

Very impressive storm just charged through here, torrential rain, strong winds and large hail! Just missed some loud booms of thunder.

Yep, just got noticeably cooler here too. Shame, but at least the high humidity is on the way out

Love the instability and the Swifts  but they can all bugger off now
