A question hopefully someone can answer....why is the ppn traveling from Lincoln through Nottingham loosing intensity as it heads South West, yet the ppn west of Brum is staying intact???

Projected radar run stating this maybe heading for you later

Missed out on the heavier stuff at lunch time.

Clouds looked threatening all afternoon, but nothing.  Then they changed from the west to the north east direction as they are now!!

Looks as though there has been a 'development' over the Midlands this afternoon, between Birm and Derby?

Between the 2 bands we developed clear skies an hour ago, and the temps have fallen quickly again. Now at 0.1C from 2.2C max at 13:30. I am recording a well negative -4.3C(?)  dew point now. So anything should  be snow later on. Frost/ice  on all cars now again.

The bands coming down from the north seem to be heading for the centre of the 'low' and we will see if they keep any intensity.

Still think most/some(?) parts of the Midlands will have some sort of snowfall tonight.

Good luck  to all - Stoke will not need it though!!

Haha of course a gap in the trough appears over Burton. Been about 5 miles away from 10cm of snow 3 times this week.

It states ‘patchy and fade’ tho

Yeah but we can't be too 'picky', some places haven't seen any snow so although it is only a cm or two, it should hopefully settle readily given the time of day

Yeah the met office warning is very measured indeed, patchy accumulations of 1-2cm in places, mainly over hills. Much as they have been for this week as a whole!

Nice little update though and they are very specific on the areas.

Been watching last hour it's a joke.. We are in the eye of nothing. Just watching that derby bit. Even with it above us about 30mins ago no snow was falling. We have a mini sheild around us.

Yep  - Hence my (!)  I suspect that something(a bug?) has crept into my unit.

Your value is much more probable. I may have to reboot my recorder. I am assuming it is a theoretical calculation and not the recorder itself.

I'm exactly the same, we have two yorkies who have never seen snow.

I was gonna film their response to it

You cannot make it up for this area.

People bang on about how snowy 2010 was ,but here we got a slight dusting whereas every direction just 10 miles away had a foot or more

That was exactly my plan. Maybe I can drive over a few miles west and join in the fun. Not the same as the snow coming to us though. ❄️

This is how i feel, its easy to nitpick and perhaps some of us want 20cm of snow, we cant really grumble at all in the black country up towards stoke this week. I'd expect a decent hour of snowfall tonight and another couple of cm which isnt bad at all. It may well get milder tomorrow but taking this week at face value, beats the past few winters comfortably, so even if it is a damp squib from now on, which you'd got to imagine is a possibility if the SSW doesnt propagate like we're hoping it will (2018 style) we've done still pretty well overall.

Just after having said that, it's started here. Hopefully get a cm or 2.

Snow is falling here, it's dusted the pavements and lawns but struggling on the roads and seems to be melting away as it gets lighter

By Battlefield roundabout 2 miles south and about 20 metres lower it was good fluffy flakes sticking pretty much straight away.

At Uffington 2 miles south of there it was sleeting.

Shrewsbury area weather never ceases to baffle me!

We might just miss out on that heavier blob here.

It's moving SW as it sinks south, the back end of that blob might have slipped a tad too far SW as it sinks south over us, putting us in the bit in the middle that has already weakened.

It's certainly tight. (And I am being quite specific for my location)

Not initially? Perhaps after tomorrow or monday, but could get up to 4 celsius, thats the met office forecast, but then again its been lower than forecast all week
