That trough has brought in slightly less cold upper level air, so showers more of rain or sleet. I think much of the snow cover will stay in tact for several days yet though as day time maximum temperatures are only predicted to be 2/3’C, falling below freezing each night. Also, the colder upper level air will return tonight and showers tomorrow are more likely to be of snow.

This is the 5th straight day of snow cover. Longest I’ve seen since 2010! I’ve only lived up here since 2016 though.

This morning’s light rain has hardly made a dent in the lying snow.

Just been out for a dog walk, still frozen underfoot. So that mini milder sector hasn’t done much harm. Was worried it was all going to go back to slosh underfoot , but it hasn’t.

Same here, it looks pretty frozen and embedded now, chuffed we've had 5 straight days of snow cover really, obviously a top up wouldnt hurt   Fingers crossed for those to our east see some accumulations in the coming days now.

Mind you, having said all of that, looks like there are heavier rain showers heading down this way.

At least I got the dog walk in early!

The ground is so cold, snow cover sufficiently deep in places, and air temperatures low enough that I don’t think those rain showers will speed up snow melt much. I’ve seen before where torrential rain fell on frozen ground for 2 days and none of the snow melted.

Well, I'm just grateful to be in a position that we actually have a snow cover to worry about!

Still need to remember just how unbelievably lucky we got at the start of the week.

Bit more of a thaw underway today here, i still expect the majority of the snow being here for tomorrow, and local hills remain covered and ideal sledging spots!

Very similar here as you'd expect. Wandered out of town a little way earlier in the afternoon, and though the roads are now mostly clear with not much snow, the verges are still covered and the hillsides are still white. 3 °C as I type and no sun, so only thawing slowly.

Good Evening all. As others have mentioned, today there has been a lot of melt, still some snow cover but you can tell it is rather wet. Pretty impressive to have quite a few days of snow cover just from a few disturbances and showers and not from a large scale snow event. Looking forward to the coming weeks. I wonder many days we will record some lying snow on the ground!
