Yes a continuing unsettled pattern according to the GFS for the next 10 days with plenty more rain in the offering  few signs later in FI that HP may settle things down with perhaps fog becoming the main player, but that's for the future. My thoughts for a front-loaded winter are starting to fade unfortunately quite frustrating really but it is what it is.

Okay quite a big squall just went through, (the cold front), but still only 4.2 mm. Quite windy now though.

Saw on the news mentions of a strong La Nina which also mentioned we haven't had one since 2010/11 and we all remember that winter so here's hoping (although it's not the best time to have a blisteringly cold winter with Covid)

Yeah you can see it now, people lined up outside supermarkets in a raging blizzard before being allowed in for their weekly rations looking like something from a Soviet era Moscow.

i suppose on a positive note though, at least the snow will do something that Boris doesn’t look capable of and close the schools.

Only way to try and curb this virus is to close everything apart from supermarkets just like in  March for the next month.Does the virus not effect schools?over 600 schools in Greater Manchester have been affected in one way or another.

Back on topic rain has cleared for now.

Agree with the schools bit but in the parallel universe that Boris lives in he considers schools of more importance than anything that actually produces something for the economy.
But this is for the COVID thread and yes the weather has improved a lot this afternoon, even picked up the last of the leaves.

What a joke this government is. Haven’t they learned from last time? We’re just sinking deeper and deeper into debt. Locking down the country won’t do anything except put the virus on pause for a few weeks. Just forget all the restrictions and wait for a vaccine I say. Yes people will die but It’s not like Covid is the only thing to have ever killed people - cars, the flu and pneumonia kill way more.

Classic zonal Atlantic westerly flow in full swing, as you expect at this time of year, classic late October weather. Southwesterly winds to bring more heavy rain tomorrow, after a windy but mostly dry day today. Suspect places like the Lakes are really clocking up the rainfall totals. Monday looks really windy and showery.

The weather over the past week has reminded me a lot of last winter. Plenty of rain, windy at times and temperatures fairly mild. I got a feeling we’re in for another Atlantic onslaught this winter. ☔

And crash the economy for years to come... The number of infections seemed to go up again once the schools went back in September, maybe we should just close the schools instead.

Think its time to finish this discussion in here we all have our own views on the subject there is already a thread on here to discuss further if we wish.

Was going to power wash the drive and front of the house today but looking at the weather at the moment and the forecast for later I think I’ll just throw some detergent down and leave it for Mother Nature to deal with it

Well if we can just get through another shockingly wet day today (esp later) and a few blips tomorrow... we should hopefully settle down midway through next week.  Fog and Frost who'd thunk it!

Yep it’s hopefully looking better later in the week.

The ground is saturated so we certainly need it to allow things to dry out a bit.
