A very seasonal Christmas day. The first air frost on Christmas morning since 2010 Which I will always remember because I nearly killed myself tripping over a bucket of ice that someone had left outside the back door. What an incredible cold spell that was; there was ice on the walls and ice on the drains and icicles hanging from everywhere.

Anyway minimum last night was -2.6°C, colder than forecast but it only reached that just before dawn thanks to cloud in the early hours. My Crosby station also fell to -2.6°C.

Next week is looking very interesting. Would like the thicknesses and T850s to be a little colder but we have low pressure and  very low geo-potential heights so I think some surprises will crop up quite frequently.

A very happy Christmas to everyone and let’s hope 2021 is a very exciting weather year.

Second round of snow here to the north of Rochdale and judging by the way Knowl Moor to the NW of us is disappearing there's more to come. Nice to see the ground is cold enough still for it to settle immediately. Merry Xmas.

Snowing in Heaton Moor , Stockport.

An official white Christmas in Manchester (Ringway) I’d assume.

First since 2004.

Wow sleet didn't expect it. Thought it was meant to be a sunny but crisp Christmas day. If ppn gets heavier maybe an official white christmas which would be odd hah. Merry Christmas though everyone

Well done on seeing snow in this region  but big fail from BBC and met office forecasters, no mention of snow for today in the forecasts, both of their credibility down the pan again!!

Well what a wonderful surprise that was. A moderate to heavy snow shower hit us here head on. It came down like feathers and even started to settle.

Merry Christmas to all on Net Weather

Another beefy shower knocking on the door of West Manchester now.

Maybe some afternoon surprises before milder weather kicks in during the evening.

After today's red-sunrise this unexpected snow is the icing on the cake :) looks like there's more behind this lot starting to move into NW Manchester at the moment, also Peak District inbound.

We had a few flakes of snow before but this shower was less wintry maybe sleet at most.
