I suspect it may have been Intra-cloud but ran the full length/height due to how bright it was overhead, and how bright it was for you far away, the thunder still seemed somewhat "muted" for a CG strike (given how close it was it would have been louder if it was a ground strike), but i could be wrong.

I get you and yeah literally seemed only a few miles away, didnt hear the thunder though so shows how far it actually was despite the brightness

Many clear Cgs ? Or mainly IC

I only saw one CG, but some spectacular IC's for a while. Spent a lot of time driving around for somewhere to view it. I forgot how many trees there are around North Leicestershire. When I did eventually find somewhere near to Ibstock it looked like a good one moving in with a nice gust front and bright flashes of lightning. The wind picked up for a bit but it then fizzled out before hitting.

A good example of a pulse storm.

Okay, that's enough recording now. Almost dropped my phone out the window.

Even more bad news, I've just let a huge a#se moth fly into my room.

You have no idea how many times I've almost done that (had have done it once, luckily it landed in the plants and not on the concrete paving slabs )

EDIT: HOLY CRAP THAT BOLT SCARED THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME! less than a second again but WAY! louder!!!!!!!

What a day it’s been!

So glad I chased. Made the right choice to head down to the A14 and intercept that cell in Kettering and follow it west!

As for that cell near Manchester, it doesn’t get much better!! What a time that part of the world is having.

More of the same tomorrow then? You bet!

Time for a nice cool Stella, and then we go again tomorrow! Glad I’m off work!

None of the lightning websites seem to be working properly, neither Blitzortung or Lightningmaps are showing all the strikes UK needs more lightning detectors!

60mm 2.0" @ f 10 iso 100 constant shooting

That's a wicked shot buddy!

I'm just back from standing on the hill at the top of my street, seen some distant flickering to the West from that storm near Stoke, also spotted a couple of shooting stars.

Rains going insane here at Norton! Roads flooded outside as the drain can't handle the shear volume of water!

The Leicester cell certainly gave a few surprises as well as some great lightning and cloudscape shots.

Lets hope we have a more widespread, more intense repeat tomorrow!

A lot of storm envy here - not a word from anyone in the Midlands or the NW for the rest of the year please, you've had your fair share

To be fair, I was having storm envy from earlier from the folks in Chesire and Manchester northwards as they were getting all the action so I know how that feels

It's called 'Sheet' lightning not heat lightning ;) it's because it illuminates the cloud in a giant sheet of light. But in reality it's just internal cloud lightning happening at night.  Heats got nothing to do with it

Looks like the main center has passed over me and is around Biddulph now.

Ah man I just realised what a view this storm must be if you were on top of The Roaches right now! Just out of the storm weather and you get all the view!!

That storm is still rumbling on! ~~ Was hoping for a couple more strikes from Hereford,. may'be I'd have been able to seen them flickering!

It is indeed, still plenty of Rumbles and flashes, is Stoke literally the only place now in UK that's got a storm? This forum has gone kind of quiet from other areas...:P

Edit: Maybe Alsager and Crewe getting in on the action now....

Showing hail at Sandbach on the radar, would be funny if it did actually turn into another supercell as it moves towards Liverpool
