Some more pics from this morning in the Lomond Hills. Just the most sublime colours at sunrise. We had 12cm this morning, sunny all day except for a slight freshening up in the afternoon, now -0.7C an

The snow still hasn't come to anything beyond a slushy mess at the house so we went to the snow. At the small car park at the top of Glen Ogle it was proper snow with a few inches on the ground. By th

@Kirkcaldy Weather it's a showdown for tomorrow morning between the WRF which fizzles the precip and the Euro4 which runs it north with more intensity:

I've often felt the WRF never runs precip far enough intensely enough...let's hope for a lot of people on here that this is the case after all.

As for air frosts my local weather station has registered 13 since the 1st of Dec and a further 8 in October & November. Plus loads of 1C and 2C so an icy winter at times.

@CatchMyDrift I certainly don't expect anything here, I have seen it quite a few times where precip moving up from the south gets about as far as Edinburgh then thinks nah don't fancy the trip across the forth ? and another issue tomorrow will be the higher 850 temps and dew points so I would say someone like @mardatha or @shuggee would be best bet if it gets that far north.

Yeah I didn't fancy going there with the will it or won't it, just looking at the precip.

Yes doubtful how far North this will come and at that angle of approach and with marginal 850's anywhere near the East coast will get cold rain or sleet at best. Inland however?

Gotta say, is the snow tomorrow being underestimated? Freezing already and temp to drop further but massive cloud formation incoming. Might be an interesting mix at dawn. This is NOAA 18 taken 5 mins ago shows very well what's coming.

Yep. I posted something similar to this on the SE thread. Heavy snowfall looks likely!

Stay safe all!

A busy few days for mountain rescue teams - in the Southern Uplands they were rescuing vehicles from snow in the Dalveen Pass, right in the heart of the amber warning area.

They were among 12 people helped to safety by a mountain rescue team after their vehicles became stuck.

Heavy snow this morning, don’t think it had stopped much at all through the night, pic from first thing

28cms cover. Showers through first part of the day. After a bit of a dig, we followed the blue skies down to Laggan

Tired the dog out on the way home up above Aviemore, snow knee deep in parts. Dying light but great conditions. Hope people get a snow fix tomo morning

Lovely! Always seems a bit of a waste when you don’t get the blue skies after a heavy fall. That’s my only gripe with March 2018. Sooooooo bloody grey!

Absolutely Ben, can’t beat it, best backdrop for the hills and it’s the best weather to follow heavy snow other than heavy snow ?  Your neck of the woods looking great there btw, cracking pics!

Cold frosty start here at -8c
