Did anyone spot this little feature to the West of Lewis yesterday. Polar Low? A little eye in the middle and round and compact. Snow around at least on its East side. Where did it go?

Seems I caught it live yesterday as I was decoding a particular satellite pass. In this post below.

From the joys of the other day's snow we're back to the mild soaking wet shitey pish again, at 16:00hrs it was lashing with rain on my way home...that was the heaviest rain I've seen for a while the roads were awash with some big dub's for the car to splash through.

I poked my nose in the mad thread...I hope someone is keeping the sharp implements away from them..!!!

The Metoffice 10 day tend suggests there may be a bit of a cold coming our way but they are not too sure - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAQdAzZBLPQ&t=0s - strange they are showing runs from the ECMWF and GSF but not their own model runs

If this were to come off would this not dump a whole load of snow.

I question my own sanity cycling in that!! Horrible stuff!

(still better than the bus)

I've put my bike away and I don't think I'll be taking it back out anytime soon looking at the forecasts. Couldn't get worse for us

Cool dull day .Started a mid winter muck out of cows fold at lunch time and then the heavens opened and all tracks turned to inches of  mud. This will do until end of April if needed Reminiscing about the past over 40 years ago when you could pick a frosty spell at this time of year for this job and keep the mess down.

Snow melt, heavy rain and this:

Latest slip occurs east of landslide catch-pits

Such a vital road with that huge diversion if they cannot use the military diversion.

This has probably been the worst winter i can remember in many a year. just day after day after day of south west winds and rain with the odd cold day. i really do that this is not a sign of winters to come. maybe we are just in one of them spells of mild winters and we will get a spell of cold ones still in a few years..

Wild wet and windy today with lots of mud again. Most farmers round about are really fed up with the almost  constant wet ground. Last week gave us a bit of respite but sheltered areas were still very wet.. Maximum of 9c.today

In my 2 years of cycling from the south side of Glasgow to Hamilton, this week has been up there with the worst. Heavy rain?, wind? & black ice❄️. As @101_North says...still better than the bus!

Would like to see more scenes like this from 6th February 2018 please!

Around these parts winter 13/14 was worse, heavy rain, flooding, gales, endless SW airstream, first half 2015/16 the same as well.

 @Kirkcaldy Weather

I was about to post the same charts, why can’t we get these charts down to at least 3 days away . Hopefully it is still there in the morning, the 12z was decent as was the ECM

I can just imagine it... For the first time ever the GFS snow depth charts come true and us Fifers end up with nothing whilst the rest of you get the day after tomorrow situation

I love the way they've put out a warning triangle, just in case people didn't realise you couldn't drive through it.

It’s nice to see that the 00z is still showing the possibility as we head into next weekend.

ECM still looks decent

That’s a few runs now that the models have been indicating a cold north westerly from around next weekend. If the charts are still looking like this by next Wednesday then I will start to believe

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
