Some more pics from this morning in the Lomond Hills. Just the most sublime colours at sunrise. We had 12cm this morning, sunny all day except for a slight freshening up in the afternoon, now -0.7C an

Standing an impressive 5ft 5in tall - the kids have done well with limited resources ?

The snow still hasn't come to anything beyond a slushy mess at the house so we went to the snow. At the small car park at the top of Glen Ogle it was proper snow with a few inches on the ground. By th

Nice mainly sunny day, and no nagging wind for a change.

Much cooler than of late with a max of 12c at 16:30; temperature dropping quickly as already down to 5.8c.

Get feeling the greenhouse heater will be turning itself on overnight for the first time this autumn.

Local House Martins seem to have gone now as none seen since Monday - neighbour was commenting that their nest had a least two broods this year, the last fledging about two weeks ago.  First significant skein of geese seen today so Autumn has well and truly arrived.

Snap, nice and frosty outside. Altnaharra is also at - 5c, not long until snow hunting begins now 😂

Well so much for my thought yesterday that sunny mornings might now be behind us. Not a cloud in the sky and the front of the house is bathed in the brightest sunlight. A real pleasure to get out of bed this morning.

Temperature currently 4.4 deg.C after an overnight minimum of 0.4 deg.C at 05:29, relative humidity of 95%, no wind, pressure at 994.9 hPa adjusted, no rain in the last 24 hours.

Very impressive cold this morning in northern Scotland -5.0C in Altnaharra this smashed the former monthly record low at site by 1.5C from 1993 - also it was coldest September night in UK since 1986.

Chilly at -0.7C - first air frost :cold:

Thick freezing fog too - driving this morning on untreated roads was fun and who doesn't put their headlights on when visibility is less than 50m? Here's the same shot with two hours between in the garden. The first at that low of -0.7C and the second just now at +1.7C.

Nice to read the frost reports, lowest here was 5.9 C I was going to say looks like the frost chances on Friday night have downgraded but given how low the temps were in some places last night and u can never really tell if the models are overplaying or underplaying temps then who knows 😆 1F470606-70F5-44D8-877C-6D970C1AC496.thumb.png.80f30f21d1183f6849ab4509b0835885.png0EE5F282-4B6C-425E-B5E8-9352505642CF.thumb.png.0184abae2f4e0876711f72057793bf11.png

I'm about to go for my flu jab, which is being dispensed in the surgery car park as a drive through exercise. I've been told to wear a short sleeved shirt to make delivering the jab easier. What are they going to do? Dart me as I drive past? Oh, and it's currently 12.0 deg.C, and I drive a canvas top land rover. Perfect short sleeve shirt weather. Still, at least it's sunny.

Dry but overcast (bar fleeting appearance of the sun around teatime).

Cold start with overnight low of 4c; max of 11c.

Always impressed at how quickly a flock of starlings can strip a tree of berries - one of our 15ft+ high rowans was descended upon by a flock in the morning and was stripped by late afternoon.  Noisy eaters as well!

Nice sunset this evening.

Chilly this morning.. a mix of showers and sunshine. Breezy still and I woke to the heating having kick in overnight 😩. Which means the temperature has dropped below 18c inside. Not all bad tho as my floors are now toasty and warm.

Looks like a cool weekend coming up, if only it was winter proper could have been some fun and games being had. Oh well plenty of time for that to come.

Pretty much the same temperature today as in the last couple of days.  However is mostly cloudy and that NNE wind has a real edge to it now. 11C.

Peaked at 12C here, and coupled with the lengthening shadows it does make it feel more seasonal. It was about time we got some single digit nights up here as the persistence of mild nights was pushing the month to be the mildest of the ten Septembers I've had here in the Lomonds. But thankfully the run of cooler days is bringing it back down to something closer to average. Same happened last month with August. It was set to be the mildest I'd recorded but then the final week brought it down a tad.

It's been a decent day. The cloud built up by lunchtime to about five or six eighths cover, the wind has averaged 2mph from the north or just west of north with a gust of 17mph at 12:51, r.h. at 64%, pressure at 1013.7 hPa. Temperature now 11.7 deg.C with a maximum of 14.4 deg.C at 14:30.
