I'll apologise now to the snow starved contingent, but we hit the jackpot...

Off to clear the drive again and measure depths.

Edit : Depth on driveway, which was cleared so overnight fall, around 10 cm. Total as best I can tell as it varies, is around 20cm on average (8 inches)

Picture postcard stuff...lovely.

We ended up with just a dusting with just a few flakes overnight to cover the tyre marks.

By the looks of the forecast next week it wont be long till I need to take the lawnmower out the hut never mind the snaw shovel.

I think the 12Zs will be epic. I feel sorry for the models, expected to deliver the most mesmerising runs while everyone is being a grumpy git towards them. We should be inspiring them to be the best they can be. A wee bit of PMA goes a long way.

A glorious day and nowhere near as cold as it has been recently another cold night to come but maybe the last one for a wee while saying that the cloud scuppered a hard frost last night

I admit, the 12z GFS is slightly more mobile and westerly based than I had hoped for. Still not without its merits with some proper weather to be had plus a cold finish. Potentially stormy, the 2nd one in particular would destroy most of the trees in the Borders as we don't do strong wind here. Don't rule it out with the GFS despite the usual issue that the GFS likes to over do lows.

I'm going through all the charts and I am yet to find one that is even remotely cold. Every single one deepens those lows to our west and pushes the high pressure up across southern Europe = endless south-westerlies for us. And you can hardly call it normal, the temperatures predicted over the Mediterranean area are well above average, including most of eastern Europe too

GFS para so close to utter glory at the end of the run but it ends up sending the beast into Europe.

We can dream...

I'd still give anything for those charts to materialize. Especially considering what all the other models are showing

Aye, the difference between the GFS and the GFS para...night & day, chalk & cheese, whatever the contrast ?

No lying snow in this part of Glasgow. Back to thinking that last year used up our snow quota for this winter as well. Even tomorrow seems to be a bit of snow for a couple of hours followed up by an emphatic lashing of rain.

I think we can write off snow chances across the south for a couple of weeks, northern parts will have a fair few snow chances though as it'll be unsettled but coldish in between times.

You and I (and plenty of others on here) have to pin our hopes on a beast, that's my guess for now. Plenty of time for it to come off but always a daft niggle that Feb/March 2018 used up a lot of our snow credits.
