Well tomorrow is the big snow's families last day living in Crieff. its been a strange old 18 months. left Scotland to go to live in the far reaches of Cornwall (no disrespect to Cornwall but we hated it, not helped by the house we moved to) then 12 months ago we came back to Scotland, and now our journey is about to come full circle with our move back to the house that was our first ever home in Scotland... Wednesday is going to be one of the most amazingly emotional days for us as a family but we cant wait. the little big snow's have all said they cant wait to get back and just in time for winter and all the snaw that is sure to come our way ( i bloody hope so). so im hoping to have a real cracker jack of a winter with plenty of snaw and plenty of pictures to share with you all... Winter is coming the snaw is coming im sure some TOORPING will be coming. but all i can say is BRING ME MY SNAW!!!

Afternoon all

This weather really is perfect - last few days have been amazing. (Same goes for tomorrow and Wednesday)

If only the panoramic pictures worked on here like they do on Facebook. 😀

Still some snow currently on a couple of the Arrochar Alps (Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain) but I am now counting down the weeks for when all the mountains/hills get covered! Last time that happened was March this year. (Pics below)

Well this morning's forecast for Lothian/Borders is a bust. Persistent and widespread rain and at 1.5C on the hills, disappointing it is isn't a further six weeks into the season....

What forecast is bust?

It is a weird morning. 0C, clear skies, wisps of mist and thick ice on my car at Coldstream at work at 7am after a night of showery bursts of rain and then 3C and showers at home.

What was their guess at today's weather?

(and who on earth still watches telly news and weather? 🤔😂)

Here's another example of why a lot of these long range forecasts need to be treated as just a bit of fun. The first pic is the CFS outlook from a month ago and the second from today. November has gone from a forecast of hideously mild over large parts of Europe & Russia to between average and very cold:

Took advantage if the good weather to take a wee run up through Glenalmond to Buchanty Spout then over to Aberfeldy via the Sma' Glen and back to Dundee via Dunkeld and Coupar Angus avoiding the A9 roadworks.
Unfortunately there was a bit more cloud in the Highlands with a light shower or two so the light wasn't great for the tree colours.
Snow remains on the Eastern slopes of Glenlyon but has melted off the South side of Schiehallion. Cold feeling with ice still on some puddles at 2pm near Aberfeldy.
Quite a bit of heather burning going on with one quite large fire just North of Kinloch. As we approached Aberfeldy the fire engine was heading South at speed with blues on.
I used to work at the heather burning in later years at school but always in Spring in the Easter hols.

Up checking cows.   First air frost of the autumn after at least 4 ground frosts so far this month at -0.5c. Yes burning was always a late winter/ early spring operation but autumn burning is now common on the hills round here now. Only started in the last three years or so.

Seventh air frost at -2.4C in the garden and -4 in the car through Blyth Bridge.

Thickest fog I've seen for quite a long time.

It's a clear, calm & icy start at home but it was foggy in Coldstream when I left work.
