It's a stunning start in the far south-east of Scotland this morning, unfortunately it's just the same old same old same old views from me:

On an old map, the MOD thread would have had "there be Dragons ! Written on its location.

Been away for 6 months nice to know that in this ever changing world,  there are still thing that you can reliably depend upon, arguments and tempramentality in the MOD thread being one.

@Kirkcaldy Weather those are my new favourite cloud type/formation...Asperitas clouds!

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/learn-about/weather/types-of-weather/clouds/other-clouds/asperitas

Had them forming here earlier.

The leftover crumbs from Storm Lorenzo that we are getting is currently giving me wind gusts of 30mph...few hairs out of place and a couple of leaves have blown past me on the way home! Peak will be 40mph and a few hours of heavy rain later tonight/early morning. (Looks bad for the West Coast of Ireland)

Have a good night all!

-3C up above Skirling/Broughton this morning. Modest -1.3C at home.

Scrape scrape scrape.

Apologies for quoting my own post, but this morning was rinse and repeat except it was -3.5C passing the same spot at the same time.

Thanks ?, I wasn't sure what type they were but did think they were quite rare as couldn't remember if I had seen them before.

Can't help but wish that would have been snow, hopefully similar situations arise this winter

Hahaha yes it had to be done! Never see any weather related pictures from Scotland on that page - everywhere else in Europe has loads.

Had a couple in Summer as well - we have great/exciting weather pictures from Scotland all year round so it’s nice to see us get noticed! ?

Well I’m off to get the canoe out as it’s going to be a total washout here all weekend!

Have a good weekend everyone and @Hairy Celt those pictures are incredible!

Not directly weather related, but may have a  seasonal relevance.

Perhaps @Northernlights can comment.

This white stuff has been applied to the former barley field ( harvested 10 days ago or so) on several days over the past week. It blows into my garden.

Lime?

@Kirkcaldy Weather can you imagine it? This type of set-up in winter could be an absolute classic for snow. Negative tilt with the fronts sitting NW-SE. Cold air from the east or south-east. BOOM! Someone is digging in the morning, and the afternoon:

191005fax2.thumb.jpg.ad5de67539a5a2aea8d21ac7e6f192ea.jpg

When I saw this chart earlier all I could think was snow but then it's 10C too warm and two or three months too early. Having said that this is also the type of set-up which would happily dump super chilled 1C rain on you all day too.

@Mr Frost well done on the pics, I thought it could be you but I am not as good at stalking unlike @Kirkcaldy Weather has proved himself.

Aye could have been a cracking snowfall event for many of us, hopefully next month and beyond the snowfall events keep coming one after another for us.
