Scotland/Alba Weather Discussion 2019

Recommended Posts

Good morning all!

16c and heavy rain at the moment.

Once this clears through the sun should appear for a bit of daytime heating and then hopefully thunderstorms in the afternoon/early evening!

Looks as though they could pop up anywhere! Heading out later if anything exciting appears on the radar/sky clears.

Metoffice have just updated our impacts to medium. 👀😯

Exciting day ahead - hopefully!

Lightning showing in the past hour.

Sun has been making an appearance briefly here but there is too much low cloud hanging about for me to see anything! 20c currently and feeling very muggy.

Back out again later if it clears - should be fun and games for some of us later.

Looks like we are starting to 'cook our own' now.  Lots of cells developing around Catch's area and moving up.

We have had steady rain here for the last 45 mins which has just started to intensify and I am hearing very low rumbles of thunder in the distance.

Usually, when the hill on the web cam starts to disappear, there is something incoming!

Not much going on here to get excited about - thought I heard a distant rumble but it was just someone bringing a bin in!

Cowal Peninsula and Argyll hills to my North West/North.

@Kirkcaldy Weather have you had a view of this? Maybe a bit too far North East for you to see.

Looks insane for the past hour!

@Norrance Will have a good view currently or very shortly?

You'll get a storm when you least expect it. We've had days of thunderstorm warnings but not a thing. Yesterday was an outside chance with no warning and we got a pretty decent storm.

If in doubt go storm chasing, that'll properly make you gutted at every UK storm!

Unusually grey and cloudy day here compared to recently, with a bit of light rain thrown in too. A completely 'inside' type day, a welcome rest from the garden jobs.

Well not much overhead today but some nice stuff around to my North West, North and North East.

Looking North West to the Cowal Peninsula. (Girlfriend and son but I had to ask them to move to the far right so I could get a good picture of the real reason for taking it in the first place 😉😂)

Looking North to the Arrochar Alps and Lomond Hills. (Radar was showing quite a few lightning strikes over there but I missed it all)

Last but not least once again looking North West to the Cowal Peninsula. (Thought for a second a waterspout was going to appear 😂  but looks like low hanging cloud!)

So not a bad way to end what has been a very warm, sunny and exceptionally stormy week!

Lovely family @Mr Frost young Mr Frost growing up to be a storm chaser? 😀 😂

Cheers mate!

That would be great but my own preference would be snow chaser! 🎅🏻⛄😀👍

Tell you what though the bar has been raised for Scottish Summer’s for me - if I don’t get at least 7 days of thunderstorms next Summer and endless days over 20c I am going to be ranting in the moaning thread! 😂

@bigsnow you need to speed up that relocation mate - Crieff sounds like hell from what you have been posting!

Hopefully if you are still there in Winter it delivers big time - snowfall wise!

@chemikal great pictures earlier - never been to see the Kelpies and I totally agree about seeing more places in Scotland! I have always went overseas for holidays. (Apart from my annual Winter Aviemore trip)

It’s definitely time for me to explore more of Scotland!
