Hey guys n gals quick question. So my snow depth is 7.25” so far can anyone tell me what the water equivalent would be today? My rain gauge is manual and is swamped so any help of approx amount for my records in mm appreciated. ?

1:10 rain:snow ratio would yield about 18mm (very approximate)

Showing no sign of stopping for Swindon either? A good 4 hours or more to come yet!

I’m honestly baffled by it. Happy but baffled. Kids moaning though as can’t go out to play in it until it stops (kids with autism/sensory issues/averse to falling snow)

Leave it to thaw and try not to skew it if rainfall is likely. I used a manual gauge alongside my Davis tipping gauge, so I can check for any inconsistencies.

It’s roughly 18 mm of rain . That’s using a measure of a one in ten ratio of rain to snow .

Thanks Manpantz yes I have brought the gauge in to thaw as we now have a lull in the snow but it’s so full and covered I thought I may have to revert to ratios. What a day. ?

small scale circulation over Wilts as mentioned earlier in the thread.....still snowing steadily here but hints of slight thawing.....I'm wondering if slightly less cold upper air is being dragged from the SE into the circulation

aye, snow feels wetter than it did earlier.

Don't think its beat the beast here as we had massive snow drifts and they was fun to see as well as blizzard conditions, but this is a very memorable event and one that will go into my brain diary!

Definitely don’t think it’s going to hang around as long. Can hear the drip, drips even though it’s still falling.

Off thread but I grew up in Yate during the 80s & 90s & enjoyed your stories of Spirals yesterday ?
