Justa chilly 2c here

Have a good one Steve.

Thanks for all your input this year. Let’s hope it’s a memorable 2019 for all of us and, please, no dreaded “mild sectors”!

Many years ago on Netweather, before I became ill. it was always tradition at this time of year to "customise", Christmas Carols and songs. These Carols/Songs would be given a wintry, snowy slant.

I'd like to reprise my effort, of many years ago. This little ditty to be sung to the tune of SOLSBURY HILL (by Peter Gabriel). Profound apologies to Mr.Gabriel, for "messing up" his superb song!!

SHOOTER'S HILL (Ode to S.E.London/N.W.Kent snowfall)

( Sung to the tune of "Solsbury Hill")

Climbing up on Shooter's Hill

I can see the orange glow

East wind blowing, frozen still

Snowflakes floating to and fro

It was something to observe

On NetWeather saw a post

Sitting,stretching every nerve

Had to read it, at no cost

I did not believe the GFS run

Just had to trust the ECM one

My heart going boom, boom, boom

Stevie Murr said, grab your coat

I'm going on a chase.

To keep in silence, as many mice

My friends would think I was a geek,

Turning water into ice

G.I.N. corridor no longer bleak

So I went from run to run

Great synoptics were there to seek

Wintry Easterlies by the ton

'Til I thought that it had come

Teleconnections did look fun

I was feeling part of the MAD thread

One more post, I'd lose my street "cred"

My heart going boom, boom, boom

Stevie Murr said, grab your coat

I'm going on a chase

(We're eastward bound.)

Getting a bit tired now, so won't attempt the third verse tonight. Perhaps some of you would like a stab at it. Here are the actual lyrics, to the third verse:

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" I said "You can keep my things,
they've come to take me home."

I'm off into work with my Wife in the morning, at a Care Home in Chislehurst. It will be like a Christmas Panto version of "One flew over the cuckoo's nest", bless them!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas morning.

Regards,

Tom. :hi::santa-emoji:

Re. the little ditty above. Here is some info about Shooter's Hill:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooter's_Hill

When I first became a member of Netweather I lived in Anerley, S.E.London. Some of you may remember me as TOMSE20.

I could see Shooter's Hill from the balcony of my Maisonette. When snow showers started to appear over the Thames Corridor/N.W.Kent, Shooter's Hill would vanish from view. Comforting reports would start to come in from the likes of KOLD WEATHER at Thurrock and STEVE MURR (when he lived at Bexleyheath) I then knew these snow showers were on their way to S.E.London, especially on an E.N.E., "Thames Streamer".

Regards,

Tom.  :hi::santa-emoji:

Merry Christmas all had a not so good year, hope 2019 is better. And snowy! 2018 will be remembered fondly personally for its late winter cold and snow dispelling it being too late, and extended summer.

Up early again, with a cuppa. Merry Xmas, one and all.

"So here it is Snowless Christmas, no-one's having fun.

Here's to the future now, the warming's just begun-un-un"

Apologies to Noddy and Big Ears (Dave Hill), of course!!

Let's have a more positive little ditty.

"It will be snowing this Christmas, snowing and cold. It will be snowing this Christmas, it'll break the mould.

It will be cold so cold, with no TEITS, in the fold. This Christmas. (by Frozen Soil).

Could never stand Mud (the Group) or indeed sodden soil (perhaps that adjective, should have been slightly earlier, in the sentence. I was very much into, "Prog.Rock" (Pink Floyd, Genesis, Santana and Led Zeppelin) and no way could I listen to some wannabe, Elvis.

Merry Christmas,

Tom. :hi::santa-emoji:

Morning all and a merry xmas, hope Santa has brought happiness.

What a lovely morning , clear skies with a frost on the ground, making it white for a short while, even next to the sea.

Have arrived with my Wife Colette, at the Residential Care Home where she works, aka "One Flew Over Chislehurst".

We got a cab and witnessed a very festive scene on the way in, with pretty thick frost covering cars and gardens. But frost will be the only "whiteness", we'll experience today.

Colette will be in charge of all three floors today. That's 40 Residents and about 8 members of staff. I won't reveal the pittance Colette receives for this!! I'm ashamed to admit, that when I worked for a Bookmaker's in Croydon and Boxing Day coincided with a Sunday, I probably earnt 3 times what Colette will earn today, for taking a few bets on the phone!! It's absolutely disgraceful. At least BUPA are paying for the cabs today but so they should. She's off handing out medication at the moment or trying to, as residents tend to congregate around the Meds. trolley!! She's got to have "eyes in the back of her head"!! We should be so grateful to all the staff that have to work today, whether it be Carers or NHS staff in hospitals.

Poor Colette, when she finishes at 1 pm, we will go home and she'll have to cook a Christmas dinner.

She may well have to give me Personal Care (part of her remit, at work), too. After losing my independence due to a Haemorrhagic Stroke three and a bit years ago, one of the benefits is having a very attractive Personal Carer. Colette resembles a mixture of Dervla Kirwan (Ballykissangel, etc.)

I'm a very lucky guy!!

Hope you all have a very enjoyable Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas,

Tom. :hi: :santa-emoji:

A very Happy Christmas to everyone. Hope you have a lovely day. I'm staying at my daughter's in Rochester and enjoying time with my 6-week old grandson. It's a lovely crisp, frosty morning here, with fog drifting up the Medway. I'm feeling positive today - our limpet high pressure and regular frosts should get the ground temp down ready for the snow to arrive..... eventually.... sometime.....! :oldlaugh:
