North West Regional thread 01/09/18 Onwards......

Recommended Posts

Hi all, long time no speak 🙂

Just thought I’d pop in to say I haven’t seen the Euro4 look as good for snow in the NW for a long time, certainly more so than any point last winter.

Either it’s suddenly started overdoing snow potential (accumulation), or we could be in for some surprises tomorrow evening.

Probably next to useless but I'd take it for sure.

Officially getting excited now, I'm a few miles up the road and getting a similar forecast. Snow hat at the ready!

Similar forecast to the Updated Manchester Airport TAF

peak District updated forecast is a lot better sounds more like it for tonight/ tomorrow

I'd like to think there will be late upgrades to the warnings..

I dont believe euro4 will be far out at 24hrs..

Those automated forecasts change every hour. They’ve been changing from rain to snow all day today. Isn’t worth getting excited over those.

Unkess it says snow for an hour! 😉😂😂

It’s still the Euro4, really poor verification stats. Especially in a north westerly airflow

The thing that will help low ground here is light winds. Less mixing of upper cold and more opportunity to bring the freezing level down. I've had 2 inches before off - 5 uppers and 528 dam in a similar set up. Got caught up in a slow moving streamer and it belted it down with snow.

I presume this is one reason the Euro4 is so bullish

It looks similar to Jan 2015 to me. MetO raw data and Euro4 were very much on the ball with it back then too.
