I have an autoimmune thyroid disease. Regulating heat and cold are a problem for me, though I am far better with cold weather. Extreme heat is no good for anyone, but please forgive me for really not liking these spikes in heat. Beyond that we desperately need rain, not just for the flowers and trees but the wildlife too.

If they are talking about really high temperatures, I too just hope they are short lived and not the 6 more weeks some websites are forecasting.

Me too Storme, I have Hashi's and cannot abide cold weather any more, which is strange for me as I used to love the cold. Even in summer I often wear fingerless mittens as my hands are so cold.

The one huge downpour we had here some days ago is of course long drained away and we really need more rain again.

Glad I am not the only Hashi's sufferer here. At least I don't feel bad not embracing the heat as much as others.

I used to be very cold all the time Barbmac, but I cope better with that than heat now. My joints swell and ache which is uncomfortable.

Anyhow, back to the weather, currently overcast with the threat of sun breaking through. Oregon clock says 20.8 degrees C and sun!

Anyone have any news which may mean rain across our region today? Looking unlikely here but always hopeful!

Yeah rain on radar must be evaporating mostly before it reaches ground as it's to light.

Some heavier stuff  coming into west midlands which should give us a few mm.

Now throwing it down here in Bewdley! Okay, maybe that's a tad OTT, but it's steady light rain, moderate in bursts. Given 16 June was just one (heavy) cloudburst, it's a looong time since I've looked out of the window at this. Temperature falling sharply, too -- down into the upper teens now.

Sustained light rain here. Very muggy. Been about 15 minutes. It's bearly laying the dust.

Still going here. Over an hour now. Hope it carries on for a bit. The garden certainly needs it.

Am up to 5.2mm rainfall for today (so far). Add the 14.2mm from Monday's thunderstorm and it's been a much improved week rain wise. I can almost hear the grass sigh it's relief as today's rain is just right, steady and persistent, soaking into the ground nicely.

Now really quite chilly here -- 15.0 °C, which must be the coldest 6pm temperature since some time in May!

We had around an hour or so of light-to-moderate rain here, with more possibly on the way from the NW later this evening.

The local weather station says a whopping 0.50mm has fallen so far, not sure how accurate that reading is because there are a few small puddles dotted around.

Rain just stopped. 11.7mm today. Add on the 14.2mm from Monday and that's 25.9mm in 5 days. Garden's had two half decent swig's of the good stuff this week.

What A Waste.  Almost Bone Dry Again.

Amazing Stuff.  Love Brpwn Grass.  Reminds Me Of Hot Italian Summer Days.  Britain At Its Best.

Mother Nature Will Soon Restore The Balance In Autumn.

Remember 2006 Then Summer 2007.

Best Forgotten.

Enjoy.  You Know The Alternative.

Hardly any rain fell here, must be two months without any significant rain, must be the most baron spot in Britian right now
