Cracking day after an early thunderstorm - sensible coastal heat today rather than the tropical heat of yesterday, maxing at about 23C. Very few clouds, in fact none as I write.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but is it possibly that the heat island effect has caused warm air to rise over London and helped create instability which has caused a line of storms to build just down-wind of the city?

The netweather radar seems to show the latest storms has originated just on the outskirts of London but not in London itself? My sister is currently in London and no rain there yet here in Hertfordshire we've had storm after storm
