It's cleared up a little here, but I've never seen higher cloud moving so fast in the opposite direction to where the weather is coming from!

Yep, watching that as well,, but now getting darker again from that large red blob on radar just south of me.. sounds nasty as well!!

Wow, just had 15 minutes of extremely heavy rain here with rivers of water running down the road. Went very dark too. The rain has eased off just now but the sky looks very threatening still.

Big cell moving into us shortly

In terms of disruption for our part of the world, today has been really under played I think.. The euro4 picked up on exploding the stuff leaving France last night today on Saturday, it then backed down to pick it up again this morning.

No other model that I saw followed the euro4s idea apart from the arome but it was so far of the euro4 this morning it was binned.

Hi Mark, yes these embedded cells have been very pulse-like and nothing like Saturday's nights storm. As you no doubt remember, we had a period of continuous lightning flashes and long, deep, growling thunder, then.

Regards,

Tom.

So having had no action from the storms the last couple of days and then this morning’s storms starting just up the road from here (but still giving an inch of rain from one shower!) finally just had a rumble of thunder!

Looks like a nasty cell is on its way to us shortly, some white echoes on the rainfall radar. Haven’t heard any more thunder for an hour though, boo.

So judging by the radar my garden has certainly had a good watering. Heavy rain for the last 3 hours, only just clearing. Sadly couldn't witness any thunder / lightening as been stuck in Nottingham. Potentially more storms overnight and into tomorrow however (take a look at the latest euro radar..). I imagine they'll be some impressive rainfall totals come COP tomorrow.

Crazy weather this afternoon here in St Albans! Thunder, lightning, flooded roads and power cuts sums it up, really unexpected!

Yes, our area copped a lot more rain than areas W and S. Just had a few more rumbles of thunder, it’s gettjng darker again and the rain has started to be very heavy.

It feels like another universe entirely up here, gloomy with a stiff NE wind all day. A high somehow of 17C.

Incredible rain here at home now and more thunder yet nothing shows on the detector happened a few times now. Big stream of more convective showers had formed too and that lot in France is slowly due to make its way over.. Crazy

Enjoy. It was great when it was over here!

Plenty of activity moving into the North Sea from Belgium/Holland too which looking at this lows movement could make it's way across the SE?

Intresting evening coming up I think when my little brother is off my laptop I will have a good look but today was left over elevated mass of stuff from storms yesterday evening, if you think how far that travelled and still it managed to cause havoc over us today. Lots of reports flooding etc etc. What made things worse is this mass managed to get some more embedded stronger thunderstorms going over us as the day has progressed probably aided by the fact pressure is lower over us than further north and the almost tropical flow that had established itself over us.

Today's stuff is also tracking a long long way as opposed to the almost stationary cells of the past few days but not as near violent.

Looking at the last few radar grabs, of that ppn. over Belgium/N.E.France, looks to be more of an east to west movement, on it now. It's not as electrified, as those cells over Holland but could mean another spell of "thundery" type rainfall, for southern parts of our region, in a few hours time.

Regards,

Tom.
