Watching it die off in north kent, I'd decided thats it as the snow has been dying in the thames, and then building up again just after southend....but wow.....its suddenly built up in front of us, and now giving moderate snowfall! This literally is the last and final fall originating from nothing, so wow, what a week with some complete surprises!!!

Agree with most of those though I was too young in 1979 or 1981!  Also March 2013 didn't quite deliver for the capital.

Stand-outs for me were Jan 87, Feb 91 and Feb 09!

I would add Jan 2013 - was very good for the western part of the region.

I have to agree,  .. Nov/Dec 2010 was another brilliant spell for me.

Feb 86 was good too, but I was living in the west country then - it was cold but dry everywhere else.

Half of those in the last 8 years. That’s impressive.  Who said global warming is to blame lol

It’s been awesome this week guys... literally had everything and I have been glued to the models and this thread 😊

we finally got what we wanted and some of us had been waiting for this for 5 years or more

guys that’s it from me for this winter unless we get some more cold from somewhere but it is time for me to actually talk to my friends and family and a female perhaps 😂

Well, some could rightly argue it should be even colder if it weren't for AGW:wink:

I feel sorry for the people that have suffered because of it but I don't think we should be moaning too much (unless you got none, and then I am truly sorry).

That last paragraph of your post is the best thing I've read for ages..somes up a weather lovers enthusiasm... I'm sorry if you got hurt but I'm truly sorry if you didn't get none... Brilliant.. Storm chasers motto that should be

Like a Blizzard coming down again with big fat flakes, just does not want to give up, the estuary having one last push

Well I'm just looking forward to the first french plume thunderstorm in spring, usually get a Kent clipper around April... Which is only next month! This has been a memorable cold snap and even if it's all gone by the morning I'm sure 90% of this forum have now seen and enjoyed a bit of winter.

You're jumping the gun a bit. There will be more snow in March...

That's a result of us going into the freezer, but yeah.. It is a bit toasty - Has it ever been that high before for the same time?

I remember the old Ian McCaskill video from 1991 shows the warm temperatures in New York , might have been 1987 anyway one of them check out the video

OK, here's a quick stab at mine: 1962-63, which lasted for 3 months, with dense freezing fog in the first month, then the beast, with an occasional northern and western incursion, for nearly 3 months. Even the one or two western incursions were very cold, with snow, not rain.   I had a newspaper round, on foot. Never missed one, and i was yet to become a teen.

1965. Cold and snowy at times. Nota

Xmas eve + xmas day 1970. A cold NE had set in. Snow started at aboy 6pm of the 24th; Contned all night and well into xmaa day.

I love how on here we seem to have the snow contingent and the storm contingent, only appearing at certain time of year. And then there's, me and the other inbetweeners who hang around here all year!

And then you got the up side downers who jump  hemispheres and start again...our charts our models all use data that some people have to gather day in day out.. Hope they don't lose the excitement of will it or won't it..that would be sad :-(        ps.. there is nothing like it snowing where it hard to get....

This week has been great. I've enjoyed it but now back to reality as soon as it thaws. Tomorrow I'm going to have 6 days worth of mail to deliver, almost every house on my delivery (650) :sorry:

Just battled the drive home to Leigh from east London, very icy conditions out there, and one last heavy snow shower before we wave good bye 😢 what a great spell it’s been this week though!

What’s next..storm chasing? 😁
