Anyone from Guernsey/Jersey, or know if it is snowing there? They would surely be getting buried if it is.

According to this they have rain/freezing rain

Definitely moderate snow now here in North Bristol and starting to pile up rather nicely. Would go out and measure it but really can't be bothered :cold:

As a rough guess, I'd say 5-6 cm of level snow and the best drift I saw earlier was where it had all blown inside the garage! :pardon:

I wonder if the estuary creates a pocket of warm area above us in braunton and barnstaple. The radars did show earlier a clear patch here- the only one in Devon! Think it is forecast to fill in but I'm no expert.

I don't think we will get any major snowfall - I am absolutely livid!

Snowing steadily here.  At least 4 inches deep and drifting into exotic shapes over 12 inches.  Blowing off lawns and roofs and vortex ins up into the air.  Spectacular but hard to photograph.

should be some good photos in the morning.  That’s if we can open the doors!  ??

    very windy.

    Dave,

Either I've lost me marbles or this is way east of where It was meant to be.

I seem to remember a potential band this morning. This then concentrating to the SW (what is in the present red zone) until about 2-3 in the morning. With another band then following up tomorrow. I do seem to remember one model throwing things a bit further east. But not this much and for this long?

    Hi Jemma,

Well we need to watch those radar and infra red charts during the next hour or two but I think all of southern England, the south Midlands, Essex and Suffolk, all of the south-west and south Wales and yes you're very much in the middle of all this should be added to the red warning zone immediately.. I'll be doing regular updates every hour or so. Enjoy.

btw' I really liked your special thread and all those who are able must check on their neighbours and beyond. Cold weather payments should be triggered by Saturday but everyone must ignore the affordability and ensure that they're warm and safe..  All the best, David.

I think we're going to get hours of snow in the Wilts/Somerset border area. We already have a decent covering.

Correct although according to NMM, the positive uppers never really make it that much north than the south coast and so expect majority of precipitation to be snow besides maybe a little freezing rain on south coast.

Those wanting a red warning...you know it doesn't actually change the amount of snow that will fall. That's down to the physical now cast this has now become. So the radar rather than any red warning is your friend/enemy.

A northwestward movement must surely be due now.

I'm trying to upload some photos but keep getting the following error: 'There was a problem processing the uploaded file. -200'. The images are below the 7MB limit.  Anyone know why?

Same here, little disappointing and the heavy  precipitation on the radar is staying south, it' weakening at it moves north.

Our Amber warning is in connection with the highest possible impact, but 2nd highest likeliness surely the Met Office can be confident of another 4-6 hours minimum of heavy snow, the public need further warning.

A red warning probably won'tbe needed here unless something really exceptional happens...(maybe freezing rain COULD be a prompt) but amber will suffice, surprised the Met office have held off for this long but they maybe trying to gauge the eastern extent of the front first.
