Wind crazy, must be 40mph gusting 70mph + trees bent over branches breaking off trees, drifting is mental....don’t think it’s even snowing just blowing snow off the hills but it’s a white out....

MEN reporting 77mph gusts in Central Manchester

Not expecting anything mate, I have been watching closely and it is literally pivoting away from us right over our heads. CRAP!

I have always defended the Met Office but I think it is a big fail today. Dangerous blizzard conditions all day and Now severe winds bringing ice laden trees down and causing damage. I think an amber warning was warranted. When I questioned them they told me that the yellow warning was adequate for depths up to 15cm! Not sure they believed the depths that have been reported to them from these parts

Peaks taking all the energy away as expected, the wind here is really harsh, the windchill with all the laying snow being blown around is horrendous.

Not a night to be outside for any length of time.

To be honest they just need to take a look on twitter if they don't believe how bad its been..

The wind is blowing this snow into major drifts now..

Wind chill is absolute madness. No intention of going anywhere.

If we're not going to get really heavy snow fall then I just want the mild air to progress past us in this battle.

Dangerous conditions on the coast road between Birkdale and Ainsdale while on my bike

The wind while strong didn't feel that chilled at all, if anything it felt warmer in the gusts which was surprising

It is the most severe snow storm I have ever experienced here and I am 45 now. There is also now structural damage around the town being reported as well as no clear way out by car anymore

Relentless blizzard in Buxton all day, not a bad cold spell if I say so myself.

Well you are exactly the same age as me and i have never seen what was, in effect a 48 hour snow storm in this location, OK it wasn't non stop but it was relentless..

1979 was bad and 1987 was intense but as far as snow is concerned Feb2018 beat jan 1987 hands down.

I quite agree the snow and wind here today have been horrendous and still it continues people should not be going anywhere around here unless it’s really necessary. No visibility because of drifting snow and not been above -4 all day!!

Northern edge of the front seems to be making steady progress towards Preston on radar, it's light snow but with the eastward extend potential for something a bit more interesting later.
