It will be nice to welcome some dry weather after the recent wet spell.  On a flip note the forum might go into a slumber because there won't be much going on weather related apart from wondering if the 'beasterley' will ever make it into the +120hr range

It's madness in there once again!

A cold frosty start then heavy wet snow for a few hours this morning - losing count of number of days with snowfall this winter, easily the most since winter 12/13, but alas once again a temporary slushy cover. Fells have taken a pasting, deep drifts making for arduous walking. Chance of further snow showers tomorrow down to relatively low levels, but thereafter for the reliable at least, little chance of any further snow, even on highest ground, with freezing levels above the tops, so a rapid thaw of snow will occur, raising river levels on Friday quite quickly. Weekend now looking a more damp affair unfortunately - really could do with a good dose of sun now, we've had nearly four months with limited sunshine.. we all need it.

Longer term - strong indications something much colder from a north-east direction, despite today's models which I am taking with a pinch of salt.

Well I had fun this morning with my football analogy posts. Looks like it’s back to the boring weather for a while.

Tbh I don’t think anyone knows for sure what will happen beyond this weekend. I‘d love another cold spell but equally I wouldn’t mind an early spring. Can’t wait for the thunderstorm season either which isn’t too far away now.

I hope we do get another decent chance of snow. It is only mid Feb so plenty of time left yet. I also enjoy thunderstorms so by April my interest will be turning to convective weather. I'm not a huge fan of extreme heat but love storms so will put up with the heat and humidity as long as it all goes off with a bang!

I see the MOD thread has gone into orgasmic overdrive now their fabled Easterly is on the cards. Hopefully it fails like the rest of these hyped up jobs as for many of us in the NW won’t be seeing much in the way of snow or sunshine in that set up.

Don't be so pessimistic. Easterlies can bring us snow.

I’m in my late 50s and can remember three which have. If you’re living near the Pennines or even further south of the region then yes you’ll do alright out of these but for everyone else you’re relying om the Atlantic making inroads and hopefully stalling ( like February 96 ) for your snow fix.
