The big question is, has @Rocheydub's snow shield been breached???

It has sleeted a good bit, which is nice to look at, but it’s not sticking anywhere here. I’m in work which is probably about 5 m asl...

 Few recent showers have settled instantly, ground and pavements all white now which is a far cry from 5 hours ago when everything seemed so bleek. Big question though is will there be a melt overnight? Seems like the wintry showers will fade on BBC though 850hpas only show a minor difference.

I don't see it melting overnight to be honest. Rose tinted spectacles but how could the surface temperatures possibly go up with lying snow and frozen surfaces?

Hopefully showers continue to feed in overnight, some places could get a surprise by morning.

pity there wasn’t a wider range radar that could show potential on a wider scale.....to the west obviously

Just need it to stick now! Stopped snowing after a heavy enough shower there, heading home which has slightly higher elevation, might be enough for it to stick!

@Sperrin

30cms ... can you get there...

That would be epic, not far off that now where drifting is occuring. Radar looks excellent.

What's your thoughts on our snow chances with tomorrow night's low?

Well that was a vvank of a drive home, total crawl from Belfast to Lurgan then outside Dungannon to Omagh. Apparently the M1 was down to 1 lane both ways between Moira and Lurgan.  That might be why I had the closed lane to myself as I didn't know it was closed lol

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
