If it’s anything like I had over New Year it’s not nice, kept me sober when I should have been drunk and practically bed ridden when I should have been enjoying the last few days of my holidays.

anyway on a slightly brighter note i’ve Just drove over the tops from Todmorden to Bacup and it’s snowing like mad.

more sleety down here but at above 350m it was starting to settle.

hardly the start of another 1947 but a surprise all the same.

Disagreements in the MOD Thread must be an Easterly on the way.

Near direct hit last night just coming in from a dog walk during a squall hail shower. Radar had the bolt at Clifton village 2 miles from us. All good fun.

13 hours ago, I Cumbria Marra I said:

i got 1cm from that event

10 inch on the Lancashire airfield where I was at the time. Looking south and across the Ribble you could see the steam from Fidlers Ferry powerstation 40 miles away it was that cold. Never to be repeated in our lifetime probably. The wife said everything around outside just  looked icy blue.

Quite springlike today, the sun's still very low though, so still dazzles you at the eyeline level, until it creeps higher over the next few months.  Back to normal January routine tomorrow, wet, mild and dull.

Well it’s supposed to be 6°C now  but it’s actually 3.5°C; a bit off hey.

Slight frost this morning with it lingering all day in frost hollows. Sharp increase in snipe and pipits on the fell in the last couple of days. They do not believe in the frozen GFS runs for February.

Lovely sunny day today. Shame it is all downhill now for the weekend with mild and often wet weather over the course of the next couple of days.

Yes, complete contrast to yesterday, which was a lovely cool sunny day. Still, at least the regional weather presenters will be happy with the present weather. It may be raining, but at least it will be mild.
