All in all a cold week ahead a local Langdale Mountain Rescue Team member chap told me a few years back (while I was not being rescued) February was always the heaviest month for snow ppn.

Well the BBC app have upgraded!! It shows rain on Saturday with temperatures hovering to 3C as max for Chorley. It won't be rain if temps lower than expected due to frost.

And on Monday snow from 9pm and rest of the week is dry and bitterly cold. :cold:

I would say Saturday is a start of the upcoming cold spell or arguably right now!! :D

Just posted these in the mod thread, looking good for a heavy band of snow to cross the region early next week.

Could be very memorable if it stalls over us.

If that happens there would be potential for 1ft of snow even on the coast imo

As it stands it looks great for monday night into tues!

This region could finally see some decent action, Cold Atlantic air moving into colder still continental air is a recipe for a snow event.

Only 4 days away, there is a real chance this snow could stall over our region , certainly for once being on the west side of the pennines could be a bonus as the hills may drain the precip !

That's a front coming in on a north west trajectory isn't it?, so it won't activate any snow shadow/domes like a slider does on its eastern flank...so if the cold is embedded (and latest model updates show little influence from the dreaded mild sectors) hopefully most of the north west region will get a decent spell of snow falling...interesting times next week.

Yes snow should fall right down to sea level and stick around too, could develop into a proper cold spell this.

Yes, i just posted this, it looks like a system will move SE wards Mon night into Tues and for once being in the west of the pennines will be our insurance policy-

Those on the other side of the pennines will likely have to hope the hills dont gobble up the intensity- 'our' side of the hills is good to go!!

This one does seem a little more promising than the marginal stuff we’ve had recently, but I’m definitely on the side of caution, as it could easily change. Once Monday night is 2 days away, I might change my view lol.

I wonder if the Irish sea would pep it up?.

Also there is a danger it may fail to make it this far.

Hope we all get plastered with colder weather to follow.

If and its only my suspicion, the models continue to strengthen the block then you could be in absolutey the sweet spot Darren.

As it stands we are all in the sweet spot.

Unless of course the models have massively undestimated the block and the Atlantic disrupts over Ireland/Irish sea!

At 96-120 there should be a decent chance this will verify close to as shown this evening-

hard to know how much snow will fall tho as its moving in against this big anticyclone to our NE.

Its the holy grail for our region, it really is.

I'd still be happy with 1cm, still waiting lol
