Warwickshire was absolutely buried in snow in 87 and 91 on easterlies !!

MOGREPS has a marked influence on BBC/met forecasts. I would love to see it lol. 

Sounds pretty solid on the cold making it to the U.K going by reports in the thread.

For us mear mortals we shall just have to wait and see.

I seem to remember feb 91 was easterlies and we had loads of the stuff

Yep, it's gone totally 'jugs up' by 144.  Totally outlandish and worth binning already (fingers crossed). Happy New Year fellow weather geeks, here's to a snowy 2018.

Holy smokes, the GFS looks awful; there isn't even any pressure rise to the N of us at 144 hrs

The issue is, it's entirely feasible...could be a few sore heads in the morning facing a model (ECM) volt face.

Even less amplified on 18z no ‘blocking’ to N/NE evaporated. At least it clears that low better.
