NWS Any chance of the snow down to low levels on the 27th ???

At this stage i'm not sure, a lot of factors at play boxing day and beyond, chris fawkes has tweeted about heavy possibly disruptive snow across the pennines late boxing day into the 27th ...

We dont know where the precip will be at this range but if i were to be honest i would say your going to need 200m minimum(300 to be o the safe side) - the winds are still from the west so the uppers probably wont be cold enough for low level snow.

Don' see much potential for low ground snow next week, everything to marginal for my liking, which usually means one thing.i would say as it  is now the snow line will be about 200m,still time for upgrades but I won' hold my breath.

All that remains is for me to wish you all a very happy Christmas, and hopefully our members above 200m will see some white stuff.

Cheers All

The winds will be SE backing NE north of the lo though for a time won’t they?

Im starting to seriously hate sliders

LOL Hesse the name.

Incidentally the GFS is not to bad snow wise gives most of the region some white stuff

ECM slides way to the south so depends on which model you believe.

OK definitely my last post pre Christmas

Different this one though to 10 Dec, air was much colder then, the event was all snow, this will definitely start as rain, then maybe turn to snow, areas uncertain yet though

Yep, Merry Christmas to all fellow north westerners...have a good 'un.

Weather wise...no festive cheer tomorrow...mild & Wet.  Colder for a bit after...but if wet slushy snow is only on the menu, I hope it stays south and we remain dry & frosty.

Not even a visit up to relatives in Cumbria (200asl) will save the day.

My Daughter got married on Friday just outside Congleton in Cheshire, the weather was great the sun even came out but the weather highlight occurred just after sunset ,it was amazing, probably the most colourful scene I've ever seen

There was a bit of blue sky here yesterday but not enough for the setting sun to break through, another dire dismal day this afternoon with only a few strong gusts of wind to make things a little more interesting. Apparently 2x potholes opened up along the Cat and Fiddle road overnight which is a little unusual given we've not really had too much rainfall this month.

I see some blue skies here too. The sun is shining here too. First time seen sun since Tenerife.

At least there’s something to look out for and radars to be watched.

Today is the most boring weather day possible. Mild and benign! Horrible.

Back from a week's sneaky holiday in Gran Canaria and although a bit coolish after dark, 23c was more than adequate for spending the day lazing on a sun bed and drinking all the alcohol I needed.

i assume that the northwest region has experienced its usual bore fest of weather and that I haven't missed any snow heavy enough to tell the grandkids about or that any is forecast over the Christmas period.

not that I want any tomorrow though as we're out for a family meal and don't fancy any road disruption.

in the meantime though, Merry Christmas to everyone and hope you all get what you wish for.
