Misery guts. Cheering on a 100mph wind storm is not on, peoples houses could be severely damaged in that as well as a severe flooding. I'd take snowfall over that any day of the week

You do know more people die because of cold weather and snow than because of wind, right? If you value the life of other people, then the only kind of weather you should be hoping for is mild, dry and windless. Oh what fun..

Yes, but people don't have there houses flooded by snowfalls.

They do when it all melts. Maybe you should be a bit more careful about what you wish for in the future.

Sooner have snow, i’ll wait until summer and a breakdown from a 30c heatwave for my thunder and lightning if you don’t mind.

Lol, we haven't been blessed by that many times in recent years. Infact, how often did we miss out last summer despite being in the target zone.

I get the feeling that gales probably kill more people in this country for single weather events than anything else. For instance, 47 died during the Burns' Day storm alone. 19 in the October 87 storm, etc.

Obviously if this Lo does end up bringing  damaging wins as currently forecast then please everybody stay safe; that goes without saying.

Why is it not ok to be excited over extreme weather event X but it is ok to want event Y to occur?

Snow causes plenty of car accidents.

Missed it, just hope I don’t miss the accumulating snow that’s forecast.

Do you reckon that they have forecasts of feet of snow that suddenly downgrade into mild mush.

its a bloody volcano and probably still causes less mixing of warm air than our piddling Irish Sea does.

Didn't something like 2,000 elderly people die last winter due to cold-related issues? I can't imagine how many more would die if we had December 2010 redux!

Of course, I like cold and snow - and me wanting cold and snow doesn't mean I want people to die. People should be allowed to like whatever type of weather they want without being made to feel bad.

Moor people die of Skin cancer due to the Sun.

Yet the weather presenters talk of ‘the best of the sun’ and the ‘worst of the snow’.

I said earlier today, the forecasted track of the projected low pressure set to move across the UK somewhere Wed eve into Thursday Eve is still unknown, and rarely do the models pinpoint with accuracy such features at such a range, so don't be surprised to see it shunted a bit further south again tomorrow..

That's accumulative deaths. I was referring to single weather events, Burns' Day storm, October '87, January 1976 storm etc.

Funny enough in days of old, the saying was "a green Yule makes for a fat churchyard."

Take road traffic accidents out of the equation and the main factor in winter relates deaths, certainly amongst the elderly in this country is poverty.

other countries recognise this and deal with it accordingly but we’re British and do things differently.

That said though I suspect that the biggest health threat from the weather in this country is depression by just how bad it is throughout the year.

at least other countries know that better conditions are over the horizon, here it’s the luck of the draw what order the seasons come in.
