Given how many members were on the regional thread last night I think hopes were a bit higher than normal for a decent snow event but for most of us it's turned into a damp squib, not sure an Amber warning was even needed for high ground given reports on here of not a lot even at 300m, the Amber warning even covered low land parts of Bolton but from what I hear not a flake has fell there.

Still got snow here just outside Wrexham. We have a light covering - only 100m ASL. It did get sleety around 7am but then the heavier precipitation and evaporative cooling turned it back to heavy wet snow.

Made more bizarre by the fact the Flintshire hills which reach 300m asl got rain

Wow, what a huge flop this has turned out to be! Rain all the way.

Oh well, it was going to get washed away by the rain so I am not gutted.

Windermere altitude of Just 39m looks lovely with the live cam : http://www.fba.org.uk/ferry-cam

Heavy rain here in South Manchester now, and it is turning more sleety with some snow flakes mixed in.

My car thermo says +1.5C

Perhaps a couple of cms here so far, it has been mostly light, but more moderate in the last half hour. It is very wet though. How long it lasts who knows, possibly another hour, before fizzling out, and a quick thaw most probable, with some sleety cold rain for the rest of the day.

Quite disappointing, the intensity of the precipitation being very light, and the speed of the band moving through too fast to delay the inevitable drip drip. Still it is the first proper snowfall of the season here.

Yes - looks good down by the Ferry from Nick B Cam link - albeit brief as the front is zipping through quickly

Bodes well for the tops for the adventurous

now up to about 4cm but if this is the best that one of the higher parts of the highest town in Lancashire can offer then its another let down.

Yeah it's becoming more snow here now but still very wet and rain mixed in with it, skies have gone very grey though and it is getting heavier, but I will not allow myself to get excited!!

Large flakes often arise when it is marginal I think. Can get some great falls in that kind of setup.

Very heavy now giving a slushy base on my balcony table.

Pity the wind is about to turn westerly though which will be the end of this wintry episode.
