Convective/Storm Discussion Thread - 1st August onwards

Amazing sat at the moment if you watch the loop, cool air coming down from the north meeting warm up being pumped up from the south...along the battleground we have storms. 

Certainly in the arome idea for tonight although it performed pretty poor last night, it does move things a bit further north into south London too.

Can't tell by the line of ppn at the moment, is the warm air still heading north?

very, very distant flash, that seemingly came from no definable cloud?

Feeling much fresher out there already, wind has picked up significantly too

 

not a chance of any storm now imo

The main rain has moved closer now, it's more or less on the coast now, none of the thundery stuff though.

Nothing up here in Manchester.  Of course.  On a serious-er note my blitzortung shows some significant lightning in France about 40 miles sw of rouen.  Surely that's heading towards the uk, isn't it? (I don't honestly know)

Just had a heavy burst, with some lightnimg in the channel just before it came over. Nothing stormy over me though.
