North West England Regional Weather Discussion 23/04/2017 onwards

Recommended Posts

Almost got dragged down to the Hart in Whaley myself this evening, but as anyone local knows, the outside sitting area is a heat-oven with the sun on it for the good majority of the afternoon. 18'c outside still at 2am and no doubt the high-cloud that's been around most of the day is keeping much of the humidity trapped underneath.

The slight refreshing north easterly breeze has been a godsend today, making it feel much more comfortable than the past two days.  There's hardly been any cooling down overnight so sleeping hasn't been the best barrel of laughs.  BBC forecasting temps of just 15c for Saturday, that will feel quite a climbdown on recent days.  Another hot day to get through tomorrow though, possibly record breaking for the south.

A slow start to today so I didn't think it would be anywhere near as warm as yesterday, however that off-shore breeze has developed  keeping the sea-breeze at bay and kicking in the foehn effect as well and it's currently 26.9°C with a DP of  17.4.

Hoping for a thunderstorm tomorrow, hopefully they won't miss us this time.

Managed 26C today understand DP is 17C.  High cloud means sitting out in garden wasn't like being in a huge halogen oven.

Downside (isn't there always one?) tomorrow is the longest day

It may be difficult to achieve both heat and storms herr today as it is overcast with thick cloud. Difficult to imagine getting rid of it. It may well be not as warm as expected around these parts.. we will see. Hopefully it will disperse

Woken up by a small storm around six, only a few decent rumbles and 3mm of rain. Looks like that'll be it

Looks like we might be in a good spot for seeing a few fireworks.  If the sun get's to work later on it could provide the energy boost needed for a few decent evening storms.  Fresher then after that.

Its surprisingly cold feeling outside.. its not that humid and the wind is rather chilly which is quite surprising despite such warm upper level temperatures and an offshore airflow. I remember in similar projected situations in the past it would be in the 20s by now even in cloudy, hazy conditions

That's lower than my overnight minimum was lol.  Currently  20.5°C with sunny intervals.

 Make that 21.0.

The latest BBC forecast talked about isolated torrential thunderstorms after 3pm for north Wales, Merseyside, Shropshire, Greater Manchester area.

Looking at the various precipitation charts it looks even better than that with the exception of euro 4 which shows almost no activity. I would discount the euro 4 on this occasion.

Already feeling rather humid here and likely to get hotter later with the light southerly/southwesterly flow.

A bank of fairly substantial Cirrus is moving over the area now putting a potential lid on any activity later. Quite disappointing but that is to be expected in most cases. Time to get on with things I have to do today. Good luck those with any storm activity later

Totally typical of our luck! Too warm/marginal in the winter for snow, now conditions looking unfavorable for storms. The Wirral really is one frustrating place to live to enjoy any moderately exciting weather!!! Might get a few rain showers wahooo!

Sun's out again, yay! Hoping for something good by 1800, as I'm at work on the 11th floor in central Manchester with views in all directions.
