To be honest we should be very pleased with this. Note that snow cover is also present in Manchester ?

There’s some very complex physics involved. It’s the Peak hills yes, but it only seems to happen when it’s frontal precipitation (easterly convective showers from the North Sea are fine if the flow is strong enough), coming in from the west and then interacting with a SE’ly wind.

Mr Data might have more detail of these events in the past.

As I said the other day, it’s  one reason why 1963 was so snowless in Manchester.

I was never aware that 1963 was so snowless in Manchester. Considering Alderley Edge had a yard of snow plus drifts and 1947 snow depths looked respectable in Manchester

Maybe some more on Monday? ECM has Monday’s low further north apparently from what I can gather in amongst the irrelevant stuff on the mod...or rarther ”mad”, thread.

Certainly a complex situation, maybe with extra upgrade surprises

I'm hoping for 20cm plus. Not being greedy it's just I catch the train to work from Horwich parkway to Manchester piccadilly and could do with the trains being cancelled and having a few days off. :D

I really hope so. Yesterdays trough was a let down for me. Great for others. Was forecasting 36hrs of winter wonderland only a few hours back. One can only hope

Staying out of it for my health. Praying the amber doesn't move. Seen it in the past, can't remember date but think it was about 5 years or so ago we had an amber warning shunted into Wales the day before! Tomorrows meto warning update is huge, still everything crossed!
