Any ideas what the depth of snow the airport is predicting?

Latest indications from the Airport weather Centre is 5-10cm

Rain with a bit of hail

Where in Manchester are you? I still have some lying snow from this morning, and snow showers started again about 15 mins ago here, no rain at all.

Is the airport out of the rain shadow?

Liverpool airport TAF unchanged also. Snow from 0500 with a chance of heavy snow. Strong south-easterly winds.

Starting to hate having this big hill in my back garden. The showers skirt to my South West.

Ive always said that winter hill could not cast a rain shadow but sometimes from a North Westerly wind direction I miss the worst of the showers

MET Office text forecast just updated

Sleet and snow arriving in southern parts of the region overnight.

Sleet and snow in Southern areas continuing through the day leading to some large accumalations

If there’s any sleet tomorrow I’ll eat my other pair of gloves!

Some wintry showers earlier in the day, all a bit slushy now though and only looks pretty and white on undisturbed ground i.e. fields.  Fully lowered my expectations for tomorrow with the amber-to-yellow downgrade, that way anything that does fall will be a bonus.

Do wish the MetO would be a bit more specific. The North West is a big region.

North out the game

South in the game.

What about us in the middle ?

Snowing again here in Failsworth - nothing marginal at all. Big fluffy flakes.
