I've dropped an email over to the Met Office to highlight their typo. I noted that in their error they had used 'cm' instead of 'snowflake'. They quite quickly replied and said "Thank you for you email, highlighting our error, we are unable to abbreviate this to "flakes" as many west-country folks will be expecting to see chocolate falling from the sky".

I guess their right...so flakes it is then

Dorset :nonono: That is very glass half empty.... tut tut

This thread might self combust if that slider slips further to the south and west!  Half hour to go I reckon 50 minutes till we know whats going on Sunday......until the next run changes it again!!! Great we are having these south west moments and its only the 1st week of december!!!!

Out of interest as a lurker where would the sweet spot for the slider be to interest Devon/Somerset? Keep seeing talk of corrections SW so would be interesting to know what im looking for in the models

if we can keep the flow off shore, then we have a chance. if we see the centre of the low heading down across N Ireland into Wales we are getting wet, if it drifts down western Ireland we have a good chance of upgrades for the region. Roughly

if the system sliced through say devon and traversed up the channel most of southern UK would be on the cold side of the system so it would be a bit of snow fest. But the further it slides to the west the less potential for ppn and hence the snow threat would cease. IMBY going through cornwall would be ideal................or what @karlos1983 said!!!

Reading all the above, seems there's a chance I should check out the number for the Vatican, prepare them to verify a bona fide miracle?

Brecons have nabbed it again ;)

Have we got any engineers in here? Reckon if we chopped the top off the Brecons, used the debris to build a bloody great big funnel just north of the M4, we'd all be a lot happier.

ICON is a prime example of what we don't want to see, tracks the low straight over N Ireland

Think GFS is holding the slider back and more west already. So another correction. Next couple of frames should let us know. EDIT: Nah going the other way what do I know!!!!

Now, that's a very good idea. No worries about transport home and some very nice pubs... *strokes chin thoughtfully*.
