Absolute huge bang over the downs here in Kent, it actually shook the windows.

That'll be what I just saw to my South-West: very impressive looking at it from a distance!

Probably, it was heard and seen in London, flash and bang simultaneous, but not one since?

Rain very heavy here still. Only 2 flashes of lightning all night so far, very very disappointing. Different story on the Kent and E Sussex coast though, by the reports coming in. Lucky ones!

Edit: major flash and shotgun thunder, scared the crap outta me lol

Been going on around 45 minutes here (Sittingbourne), lying in bed with the curtains open watching the lightning. The coast looks fairly hard hit hough.

It's finally kicking off to the S of here very infrequent but the lightning is terrific. A thunderous boom a short while ago. I'm happy that I've managed to have something.. More please. :)

Went to sleep and awoken by deep rumbles. Heavy rain, not seen any lightning as yet. Intermittent thunder. Not sure whether to sleep a bit more, stay up and radar watch or look out the window until 6am or something. If the rain wasn't so heavy I would be out photographing, but not enough lightning. It seems to have died off somewhat.

Just looked out window - large rumble after catching a giant anvil crawler, a bolt behind trees and lovely bit of lightning illuminating the whole sky! Nice!

My camera got a bit soaked but it's survived the tucked-inside coat method. Wouldn't have been surprised to see a funnel in all that, got very wild overhead.

Lights flickered, MASSIVE rumble that shook the whole house, and seemed to vibrate the glass and whatever else could vibrate in the structure of the house. Not heard anything like that before!

I was woken up at about 3.30am by constant thunder, it sounded amazing. I did'nt get to see any lightning as I was so tired I could'nt be bothered to get out of bed and have a look.

Strangely it was the opposite for me. All the lightning woke me up but didn't hear any thunder. Though I'm very sensitive to light so maybe why

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
