this could be that line of showers / possible storms that was forecast to move north this afternoon as this was the expected time and area for it to start

we'll just see how this developes

Certainly seems to be pepping up, that line of showers. One heading up through Hertfordshire looks to be getting some decent returns on it now. Feeling muggy up here and the sun trying to peak through.

Quite cloudy here currently. Few small showers around looking at the radar, but nothing major, though to be honest I wasn't expecting anything today

just looking at the netweather radar

doesn't appear to be a lot of T & L with this which I find surprising considering some of the radar returns

The sunshine starting to burn through here now.

Plenty of showers ganging up to the south and heading northwards, but not a single sferic detected anywhere in the UK. I fear that the cloud has proved too stubborn to clear. It's still cloudy here, albeit with the odd break every now and then.

Love how most of Europe is plagued with storms and we are just sitting here with literally nothing

Hopefully once the showers make it into the Pennines there'll be enough topographic lift for the cells to enable some good updraughts and tap in-to the CAPE potential.

Just got back in from work and i didn't expect that lot to the south of me,i know there isn't any lightning yet but surely something has to give in the next few hours now that the sun has burnt off this low crud

i can now see the tops of them showers south of me and patiently waiting for the first sferic lol.

Edit:first sferic between Colchester and Ipswich but there's nothing there!

First sferic of the day North of Colchester. And after all that it looks to be a 'dud' one.

Doing a radar grab from around 4:30pm, and it looks as though there was quite a monsterous little shower/storm East of Solihull towards Hampton-In-Arden, Meriden and Coventry way!

So apart from a moderate shower about 3pm the days been a dud (as expected). Meanwhile northern france has lit up like a christmas tree with thunderstorms galore. I see the wrath of 2016 lingers on. Lets hope for better things very soon.

Worth noting that France has had slightly higher temperatures today and a longer diurnal heating, hence the convection!
