Model Moans, Ramps and Banter

Recommended Posts

You won't be the only one, with parent worries.

most of the young and youngish drivers, have never experienced it.

Best advice, if she has to drive, is take a warm coat, hat gloves etc  and warm socks ,sweeties and a drink with her, a phone charger and keep a full tank so if she's stuck in traffic she can keep engine running for warmth.

oh and a shovel, but you've probably told her that.

in fact even us oldies need reminding of those sensible precautions.

it doesn't take a prang to leave you stranded, wasn't it lorrys a few years back that crippled a M road , cos they couldn't climb from a standing start ?

wish her luck x

just said to the wife ' think we are going to need a bigger boiler'

mixed emotions for me though, love the cold but the daughter starts a job Monday next which she will have to drive a round trip of 100 miles a day down country roads, she has never realy driven in proper snow (if it comes), lots of dad worry coming up maybe.

If it anything like what's predicted her workplace will probably shut.

Ever read a MetO text forecast of "snow for many"? - you have now. And an extended that puts any milder shift back to mid March.

And on the model front... I rather like this one

Not sure the south of England would be able to operate at all under that.

I’m seriously willing to test that theory!! :drunk:

can you imagine what the daily express headlines are going to be?

Yes

"Britain's pensioners freeze to death as worst winter in hundreds of years"

In all seriousness I hope the government and councils are preparing contingencies for the worst affected areas of the country. This kind of weather is beautiful for those of us not in a vulnerable position, but if it persists in this currently shown manner it could cause serious issues.

Must be one if the few people getting panicked by the amounts of snow currently being suggested on the MOD thread - with elderly relatives who would be housebound and a very premature baby in the family who is a 30 mile round trip in hospital away from home this this snowmagedon would be a total nightmare.

is liam dutton reading the mod thread?, his latest tweet, is about caution

and quite right too..........BBC Snowwatch euphoria rules in the MOD thread  ( Snowmageddon, etc etc ) .....however look on GFS 12z OP and you see a 4-5 day Cold spell with snow showers mostly in the East followed by gradual thaw as Snow-Rain as LP with associated warm core arrives from SE.

Remember 3 days ago we had snow flurries arriving in SE this Tuesday....this has now moved back to Friday/Saturday.

Spare a thought for the thousands of Brits on the streets who have no home to go to

We could build them igloos.

I comment on the Model thread and I’m a certified nutter. No offence taken here.

Every time the temperature is set to drop with the weather, the temperature certainly rises in this forum. All good fun though!
