Yes is noticed that too, certainly looks like its sliding looking at the heavier stuff going SE!

Not sure what it will do to the mild winning out but maybe snow for longer hopefully. My worry is that the heavy stuff risks sliding too far SW at the moment...

Yep, agreed, definite NW to SE movement (sliding) against the cold).  Unfortunately for us is Barnsley to Leeds we look like ending up missing the heavier precip as it heads into the midlands again!

Nice steady snow here just a slight covering though. Already turned to rain in Birmingham and a gap in the front heading this way.

Little flurries before the main event, the  ground is still frosty.

Am I the only one on the Lincolnshire Wolds, (It is sparsely populated) ? Am I indeed on the right forum?

Looking very pretty here in S11 Sheffield Hunters Bar. Rather have this than the sheet ice we struggled with on Friday

The BBC app graphics are changing like the weather!

They've been completely useless this past week! In other news it's moderate snow here in Garforth but not yet sticking, needs a heavy spell to set the foundations. Shame the rain is following on behind to melt it all!

Back to very light snow now and Barnsley once again manages to get in the precipitation gap!  Also, occasional sound of dripping starting....and just as Metoffice forecast graphics change from sleet  to heavy snow until 1pm!

its all (literally) gone south very quickly! Still snowing here but we've missed the heavy stuff by the looks of it. Looking at the radar I cant see it still be snowing at 3pm this afternoon like the tv forecast said

Despite it snowing steadily for 2 hours now theres still only 1cm of wet snow on the ground. Just isnt cold enough i dont think, despite a very cold night last night. Im yet to see deep snow this winter!!

Joke of a forecast for us.  Dry until 1pm then rain.

Actual weather snow until 1pm then dry!

haha, yes i thought that too when i saw the symbols on BBC weather this morning. Useless! The sooner we lose the METO and have a go with someone else the better. That keeps getting delayed though, its a year late now

Easing off and very wet flakes here on east side of Rotherham, only given a slight slushy covering here whilst just been up to otherside of town settling beautifully up there.

I know they are only automated forecasts but you would think they would be a bit more accurate a couple of hours out!

I don't mind the Met Office generally and I am sure their forecasts are as good or better than most to be fair.

supposed to be the best in the world isnt it but doesnt seem so for our patch a lot of the time....its just frustrating.

Like you say they must have short range models too so why is it so wrong at short notice. Even if they fed symbols in from NMM,EURO4  etc it would probably show a lot more accurately.
