I think the model thread is full of 2 types of people, those from the south of England and those not. Some read charts some use seagulls but at the end of the day there methods have to grab at every opportunity because unless it’s an easterly snow won’t come to southern England. Strange how knocker doesn’t forecast anymore.

He does in the short term model thread.

Another 24 hours to go by before I get too excited over snow prospects next week. Yes GFS looks fantastic for 72 hour snow chance period but the ECM is not as good so I want to see another couple of runs from it.

GFS has been pretty firm for days now and it was also the model that held firm on the failed Easterly so i would say  next weeks cold spell is on it's way to being nailed. Obviously snow amounts won't be known till closer to the time.

Remember Ronan it’s easy for us guys on the coast to be the wrong side of marginal. Definitely not nailed on yet

Started to really like the look of this now. Will hold off any major focus on it for a few days yet.

I just hope that we all get in on the action Bob. Yes more runs needed but it is looking pretty good.

At the minute it looks better than Dec but I’m holding back until the weekend before I’m more convinced.

Hazardous out there, quite foggy. Blanket fog that too, no clear pockets out there. Yellow warning in place

Let's see how the ECM looks later though.

Remember this is unlikely to be a snow event for coastal and low level areas, particularly during daylight hours.

Right folks were almost there few more runs and this is pretty much locked in @mountain shadow i think we will get snow to all areas in that includes low ground dew points are spot on for about 4 days plus sub 520dam for days on end.

Yes that’s what I’m worried about, nothing exciting about wind, rain and sleet!

Same here, worried that it won't deliver much for lower levels though the last event did deliver.

Some great charts popping up for next week, looking good!!

On another note, that was seriously dodgy driving today. Travelled from home to Holywell hospital for work and found it extremely hazardous.

Looking forward to 18z rolling out, could be special next week, my hopes are up already and have the polish for the sledge out of the cupboard already.

As the guys mention above fog is thick tonite and making driving precarious. Tomorrow morning will be much the same.......careful now

It's the upper air which is marginal for low levels. Wil -6 850s be enough?

The Will It Snow guide says that under -5C isn't enough and over -7C for snow MS I have no idea about this though many others saying that dew points matter more :cc_confused:

Dew points mean the snow will lay on the ground if they are 0 or below I believe.

I think we are good to go just need runs to hold the 850s to we get nearer the event and no modifying them anybody remember 29th Jan 2015 5 inches snow here at low levels quite similar event to whats been shown on mods.
