Occlusion

METEOROLOGY

a process by which the cold front of a rotating low-pressure system catches up the warm front, so that the warm air between them is forced upwards off the earth's surface between wedges of cold air.

Lol i know what an occluded front is just not how it effects ppn.

Had about 15 mins of soft hail shower at a moderate intensity, started to stick stright away but then it became very fine stuff and it was struggling to settle, turned into light snow on its back edge. When that wind picks up, it does feel quite cold I got to say.

I think we got to be careful not too take the radar to literally as these are small shower cells so very localised in nature so whilst it may say you got PPN you might not of but a mile or two down the road has.

As I said earlier, really tricky predicting what the radar is going to show next.

The stuff that is meant to head southwards tonight is closing in on Northern Scotland, be interesting too check the weather stations up there and see the temps and dew points and of course the wind which is forecast to really strengthen.
