Skies gone darker now in Hale SMancs

Still Rain / Sleet - shame the precip is moving away before the cold catches it up for us

Looking ok for later though from 19.00hrs

Good 6z for next week, get the cold the snow will follow, especially if retrogression occurs

Worse fears came true today regarding the high-medium based cloud from that front in the South spoiling things today on a convective point of view, did had a slight hail shower so the lower thicknesses and dew temps could be making there presence felt nw.

See what tonight brings but this could of been so much better I felt without that nuisence of a weather front ruining things. Also keep an eye on Friday night into Saturday morning, especially those in the South of the region, chance of some more PPN/snow then.

Met office updated the yellow warning area only the far south of the region and the far north east of the region out of it, but then you all already knew that didn't you?

Sun won't make a huge difference at this time of year. There was no solar input 2010 and look what spawned outta no where!

Haha that is totally ridiculous! We really do live in one of the sh**test places for snow.

Sodding raining here, the way its going the floor will be too wet for anything to settle

Snow can stick to a lake if dew points are cold enough

My point was look how  it's dropping out west.  I expect here to be subzero within 2 hours.

Its the convection that develops over the sea from the cold air and low thicknesses, high/medium based cloud severely reduces convection hence in easterlies, if there is a weather front in the south then you get a dry zone behind that then just a bit further North its convective showers, the same applying here really. The cloud is stopping shower clouds from really forming over the Irish sea and any convection is weak at the moment, until it clears(which it should do) then its going to be a dull boring afternoon really.

Seems very hard to get a proper clean polar maritime airflow these days without some sort of shortwave popping up but either way once this clears, it should be a clear airflow along the way and lets hope for some surprises at least.

There's some beefy showers forming behind the clearing front already though, the signal for anything other than rain has been constant now for days, but that's always been progged for pre-5PM, should get some nice showers later on

I'm in Workington about 10 mile north we've had a sleet shower which turned to rain?

If the weather front was further South as forecast then this region would be in the cleaner convective air already, the window of opportunity is decreasing and whilst I don't expect snow, I was hoping for some convective weather during daylight hours.

As for the feature coming down from Scotland, I'll suspect the North East will get the brunt of that, be surprised if there is anymore westwards but we shall see what happens.
