I've seen this waaay too many times before - people don't listen to the experts who say 'wait til x o'clock' and then when they go to sleep and miss it they'll wake up tomorrow and blame those very same people for not being accurate.

weve only got to wait an hour and things'll start to kick off...

Its actually incredibly frustrating.. wish people would just go to bed rather than comment on a 'bust' or 'non-event', despite we're still two hours off blast off. Just go to bed and miss the action if that's what you want to do!

I quite like this site. Seems to be relatively accurate for wind flow, and can be good for looking how systems are interacting/convergences are developing (or not) on set-up's like these.....

Again I am only developing my storm knowledge and this is only an opinion. Being 17 years old this is not easy to take in, so don't take my opinion as definite. If any of you more experienced can direct me where I have gone wrong/correct me it will be much appreciated!

Thanks all.

I'd say that is pretty much spot on and I am 38 :) Good job, the next few hours will see ........

I'm keeping my eye on that rain tracking up from the SW towards the West Mids that's currently over Gloucester .

It's going again, southern Irish Sea

If you're anywhere near Milford Haven now, watch for lightning

I'd ignore that it's just moisture in the air, it's the red achoes out to the SW of Wales that are exploding into life currently.

Same, that's what's keeping me awake at the moment, plus I think another member mentioned it may but I stress only 'may' spring into life in the coming couple of hours.

If the CF is moving slower than modelled, then tomorrow morning into lunchtime, things could really ramp up regarding SB storms with potential supercell candidates. Perhaps a similar outcome to June 2012? Remember it all kicked off early morning in Wales and by lunchtime over Leicestershire delivered the motherload.

Or maybe I'm just the King of wishful thinking!

Moisture in the air? You mean actual precipitation then...

Unfortunately it isn't a dry storm as the radar now shows a rapidly developing cell in that direction that popped up five minutes ago. But it's lightning so I'm happy to see it no matter what

ESTOFEX: 20th July 2016

showforecast.cgi.png

... Norhern England, Scotland ...

In conjunction with the passage of a pronounced cold front, widespread thunderstorm activity is forecast over the region already in the morning hours. Forecast soundings point to the threat of excessive rainfall with skinny CAPE profiles and saturated troposphere. Despite the presence of DLS above 15 m/s and a potential for well organised DMC, large hail threat does not seem to be as pronounced as the threat of heavy rainfall due to the lack of high CAPE values and steep mid-tropospheric lapse rates. Nevertheless, especially over the southern half of Lvl 1, isolated large hail event may occur with stronger updrafts.

Currently 24.5C with 55% humidity here! Got the fan on full blast and the windows open and i'm still hot! Hoping for a storm to clear the air a bit! Not going to get my hopes up though because nothing is certain, especially around here!

Exceptionally warm here. 24-25c still according to local stations. All quiet though still. Most models still showing Nothing tomorrow morning here though perhaps a last chance tomorrow afternoon. Met office going for a thundery shower mid afternoon.
