Can hear a few louder rumbles here now, and the rain is starting to pick up, driving to the west I think I could see for miles, which is why I see so many flashes, lightning maps does look to be pretty accurate, most of the strikes I see were likely over london at the time, still a waiting game, but the rumbles are getting louder :p gonna have my eye on radar and lightning maps now for a couple of hours!

Look at the amount over the SE quadrant! Now I see why I was awoken so many times! Look at that one that exited NE Scotland lol, what a system that must've been!

Great find buddy, bookmarked this one straight away.

Not joking, most of the action has gone through the English Channel. Some action has gone through Southern England but not a huge amount, we'll have to see what happens overnight.

Just had a spectacular sunset here with some Altocumulus and Altocumulus Castellanus clouds lit up!

Really?Tell that to south London

Interesting...32 in a 16 year period...an average of 2 per year and in no doubt some years there would have been multiple. Just to put into perspective how rare these beasts are (further to the debate much earlier today)

What debate was that?  I just remember them being so frequent. 1997, since then we've had probably 2-3.  Maybe 1 of those imported in the early 00s, if that.

Excellent map there showing how much more frequent MCS's were back then.

How i wish those storms in BoB would take a more northerly track.

BoB cloud is coming our way - let's see what happens when it makes land properly?

I think the most active cell is the one which ran up into london. Watched it from the hill in Guildford as it tracked close by to the southeast. Then there were some quite close ones and we bailed.

As it passed across into Sussex there seemed to be quite a dramatic fall in flashes - shame as I thought it was growing but clearly something isn't right up there.

Really interesting map, makes me wonder if there is a comparison out there with data for 1997 - 2016

Hehe, wouldn't be surprised if there's not enough data to be worth presenting!

Like William said, there wouldn't be much info to input!
