This storm has been back building for a while now, giving faint cracks of thunder for a good hour or so now.

Can see the tops of those storms toward the east shearing off to the south on satellite imagery.  Being picked up by the modest N'erly jet winds (300hPa). Further down in the mid-level, however, winds remain light, so unlikely to increase storm longevity or severity.

Yes however that line goes almost right through my location where not a drop has fallen since about 08.00 lol !!

Exactly Andy. I've been even closer to the action down here and while I've heard plenty of thunder, hardly any rain has fallen.

This lot is currently over Alderbury way on the A36 and we're in Sunshine.

Really interesting how the rain around Stourbridge has backbuilded all afternoon. Turning really torrential now with roads flooding again.

Anyone fancy sunbathing, barbecuing, drying their clothes, listening to deafening silence or simply conducting tests on sensitive electrostatic equipment - please do consider Godalming as the ideal place to go.

It's dry, warm, quite sunny and free of any sort of cloud noise or discharge.

Perfect!

Lightning to the N and S but still nothing here. Cell to the N looks like it's slowly moving towards here.

Wind map shows a convergence zone running roughly from Norfolk down toward Hampshire, with an area of low pressure centre over Hants. Some other smaller more subtle convergence zones possible elsewhere too. The funnel spotted near Didcot/West Berks likely formed from a rotating updraft due to the spin created by opposing winds meeting along the convergence zone running through there.

Rain still very intense and still with massive drop sizes.

Had a cracking storm here over the past hour or so. Lots of overhead lightning and some seriously loud, booming rumbles. Quite violent compared to the others MK has had so far this year I'd say!
