Looking like a decent start! Sun is out and I'm already eyeing up a rapidly developing tower :D

This rain band seems to travelling from the south west, to the north east? If this is correct, we could be just under rain for most of the day, unless it breaks up? No sun yet (at all) temps around 15.2c....

Anyone able to expand on this rain band, it's almost a train of rain on and off......?

Cheers

Karl

As with the past few days, a dull layer of stratus sits over Leeds, suffocating any joy and excitement (kinda reminds me of my ex).

If we get any surface heating then I'm sure we'll get thunder, but we haven't had a cloud break in several days so it's pretty unlikely here.

18.7°C, tons of surface heating going on here.  Have to watch I don't get sunburnt as well.

Is it?

Actually looking a the radar, things do seem to be building over us, but then dieing off just as fast. Might be a different story later on.

Be on the watch out for funnel clouds today folks, as winds are all over the place.

Looking good for this area today, already had a heavy downpour meaning good signs for later. Quite a bit of crud around this morning which is limiting things but it is breaking up for later. However, I feel tomorrow will be better and I mean better, possibly even historical.

Certainly not, have you seen the potential slightly inland tomorrow? :O

Seems to be really trying to kick off here, I've had a few more brief heavy downpours.

Cells going up rapidly to the south and south west of Milton Keynes. Sky is full of towering cumulus and cumulonimbus. Temp sitting at 18.4'c with a DP of 14'c. Gonna go bang soon.

Sorry, but I really wouldn't say it's extremely unstable today, torrential downpours with some thunder yes but we're not talking supercells. ;)

extreme is a perception of my point of view..
we've had no thunderstorms across the valleys this year.. whilst other parts of the country have. :)
I don't think the weather is right for Supercells... but the way things look I wouldn't rule out a funnel cloud or small tornado.

May be an opinion, but factually parameters today are not evident for extreme instability.

Anyway, looking better over Exmoor and Somerset once again, but my thinking is that will move south through today.

From my desk I can see several towers going up and drifting southwards in your general direction. Nothing on the radar yet though.
